New hints at the fate of the Eldrazi

So a few new spoilers have caught my eye in terms of flavour text, seems we have some hints at the future of the Eldrazi

Comparative Analysis - Our time grows short. If we wish to vanquish the Eldrazi, we must unlock the hedrons' secrets." - Jace Beleren

Bonds of Mortality - Jace discovered the leyline pattern needed to anchor Ulamog and Kozilek to reality, but it was Nissa who could trace it on her world.

Fall of the Titans - As Gideon kept the brood lineages at bay, Chandra incinerated the bound Eldrazi Titans.

So my resulting theory is Jace will discover a way to anchor the Titans to Zendikar from studying the Hedrons, Nissa uses her power over the Leylines to put it in place, Chandra then burns them to ash while Gideon defends her.

Seems reasonably legit, let me know what you guys all think.

Yep. This checks out.

Seems the Eldrazi CAN die then I guess?

JWiley129 says... #4

Ugin never said they couldn't be killed, just that he thought it was a bad idea.

January 5, 2016 6:10 p.m.

As long as jace dies I'm okay with anything.

PepsiAddicted says... #6

ahh sad. well lets sit back and wait for Emmi to go all cthulhu on Sorin. that will help me over the fact that zendikar wins :/

January 5, 2016 6:21 p.m.

PepsiAddicted Exactly.

Lol I'd like to see Jace die too but he's practically the face of Magic so he's not going anywhere. They're careful about killing off any of the Neo walkers.

DeathChant17 says... #9

I don't wanna see Jace die, but I wouldn't mind not seeing him for awhile. Another blue walker would be nice.

I have my fingers crossed we might see Tamiyo in the upcoming Innistrade block. The moon was a centre piece in the trailer and she was studying it.

DemonDragonJ says... #11

I really hope that the two titans are not defeated in this block, or that only Ulamog is, since it would be far too great of a deus ex machina for the heroes to win when only a single titan was utterly devastating Zendikar, and, if two titans can be defeated at once, defeating the third titan should not be as difficult, even if the remaining titan is the most powerful of them all.

Also, if Jace is seeking Sorin on Innistrad, would that not imply that he and the others were not victorious on Zendikar? Why would Jace be seeking Sorin if Zendikar is triumphant against the Eldrazi?

January 5, 2016 9:17 p.m.

DeathChant17 says... #12

Maltanis, I hope we see Tamiyo too.

DemonDragonJ, where do you get Jace is looking for Sorin? I know Nahiri went looking for him. I'm not calling you a liar, I just want to know. Flavor text or story?

January 5, 2016 11:08 p.m.

DeathChant17 says... #13

DemonDragonJ nevermind, I saw the other post.

January 5, 2016 11:29 p.m.

DemonDragonJ says... #14

DeathChant17, I am merely making a presumption, because what other reason would Jace have to be on Innistrad? And it was Sorin who went searching for Nahiri, not Nahiri for Sorin.

January 6, 2016 6:34 a.m.

Maltanis says... #15

They are looking for Emrakul as not all the Eldrazi have been killed.
In the "Possible spoilers for what happens in Oath of the Gatewatch" thread, the first image has text saying they killed Kozilek and Ulamog and now need to find out if Emrakul is still on Zendikar or has left for somewhere else. Jace is now looking for Sorin/Nahiri to get their help to find Emrakul.

DeathChant17 says... #16

DemonDragonJ, the Stirring from Slumber UR at the very bottom shows Nahiri leaving to find Sorin.

wargodmogis says... #17

Jace could also be going to Innistrad to find Liliana, since he kind of had to ditch her when Gideon showed up.

January 6, 2016 5:54 p.m.

shinobigarth says... #18

I'm sure he'll use that as an excuse to see how she's hangin. He wouldn't tell them cause Gideon would be all "stay away from Crazy Chick, dawg"

January 6, 2016 6:34 p.m. Edited.

wargodmogis says... #19

Gideon doesn't even know her though. All he knows about her is that she was with Jace when he interrupted their date, and she got upset. Now if he did know her, that would definitely be something he would say.

January 6, 2016 6:38 p.m.

shinobigarth says... #20

He knows she's a black Mage at least which would probably be enough since white hates black.

January 6, 2016 6:46 p.m.

DemonDragonJ says... #21

DeathChant17, yes, I forgot about that, so I thank you for reminding me of it.

Actually, however, what I said is still accurate, since Sorin left to find Nahiri after he met with Ugin on Tarkir, so, technically, each of them is searching for the other.

January 6, 2016 8:45 p.m.

wargodmogis says... #22

Actually, I think Nahiri already found Sorin. She left Zandikar ages ago. Sorin also knows where she is, and them seem to have had a fight.

January 6, 2016 9:07 p.m.

shinobigarth says... #23

which sounds like we could get another Sorin card and maybe even a Nahiri card thats legal in standard and modern!

January 7, 2016 12:57 a.m.

beakedbard says... #24

I hope there's another Nahiri card not only is she awesome she's equipment based and I welcome any equipment based planeswalkers.

January 7, 2016 3:44 a.m.

wargodmogis says... #25

We'll only get those cards if Sorin went to Innistrad to find her. I know I've heard a fan theory about Sorin turning Nahiri into Avacyn, which would explain why he could pop up in the next block, but i kind of doubt the theory.

January 7, 2016 8:01 p.m.

shinobigarth says... #26

turning her into Avacyn? that doesnt make much sense. he created all the angels without turning anyone into them, didn't he?

January 7, 2016 8:48 p.m.

DeathChant17 says... #27

How would that even fit into the timeline?

January 7, 2016 8:55 p.m.

wargodmogis says... #28

As i said, I doubt the theory, mostly due to the timeline, since it was hinted at that Sorin had already made Avacyn before they fought the eldrazi. I just brought it up as a reason Sorin would be on Innistrad. Otherwise I doubt we'll be seeing him next block.

January 7, 2016 9:04 p.m.

DemonDragonJ says... #29

I am not certain that this relates to Innistrad, but, when it was revealed that Liliana's home plane is Dominaria, I was hoping that that would eventually lead to the story returning to that plane at some point, but it does not seem as if that shall be happening at any time, soon, which I find to be disappointing.

Having mentioned that, at what point during Dominaria's history did Liliana's origin story occur? Was it during the Weatherlight saga, during the Odyssey/Onslaught saga, or is it impossible to determine?

January 7, 2016 10:15 p.m.

Maltanis says... #30

Lilliana is ancient as hell. She was an old hag when she made the pact that restored her youth and gave her more power.
I imagine her origin story takes place well before any of the Weatherlight saga or anything.

January 8, 2016 5:30 a.m.

shinobigarth says... #31

she is a lot older than Jace, Chandra, Gideon or Garruk but not really that old. definitely nowhere near as old as Bolas or even Sorin. Bolas being like 20,000 years old and Sorin being around 5000.

January 8, 2016 12:40 p.m.

RicketyEng says... #32

From something I read (can't recall exactly where now) I got the sense that she would be somewhere less than 200 years old.

January 8, 2016 2:51 p.m.

shinobigarth says... #33

yeah i think she's only like 300 at most.

Your theory sounds about right, but I don't think the Eldrazi will be destroyed. I think that the Gatewatch may think they've destroyed them but the Eldrazi are so alien and otherworldly that anything you think that they can/can't do is probably wrong. But I don't think that it would be completely wrong to assume that the Eldrazi get destroyed, nor do I think that it would be wrong flavorwise for The Gatewatch to destroy them. Although Nahiri, Sorin and Ugin didn't destroy them pre-mending, they are a very different team to the Gatewatch. For starters, Ugin didn't want to destroy them at all, and none of them thought to use the unique mana of Zendikar. Nissa is native to Zendikar, and although Nahiri is also, Nissa is an animist with a much greater connection to the land. Jace is a different kind of brain to Ugin, and while Ugin is the wiser of the two, he (as stated above) doesn't want to destroy the Eldrazi compared to Jace, who is very invested in destroying the Eldrazi considering it was partly his fault that they were released. Gideon is much better at rallying the Zendikari conpared to any of the original three, and Chandra has destructive power that none of the originals had. Yes, they are post-mending planeswalkers, with much reduced power compared to the pre-mending walkers, but it is not just the Gatewatch fighting the Eldrazi, it is also the entirety of the Zendikari. Let's not forget that the vampires, humans, kor, merfolk, goblins, and every other race on Zendikar have banded together in some capacity. So when comparing the sealing of the Eldrazi compared to now is not a case of 3 pre-mending walkers vs 4 post-mending walkers, it is 3 pre-mending walkers vs 4 post-mending walkers and an entire plane, which includes the power of the hedrons, which have become ingrained in the life and magic of the plane. Thats my two cents on the issue, for anyone who is interested.
