Oogin or Eugene?

Just curious, how do you guys pronounce Ugin, the Spirit Dragon?
To quote my LGS owner, "Oogin is it's name, but Eugene is a much better name"
I personally prefer Oogin, but I am a young and foolish MTG player who laughs at that kind of silly crap, not an old-timer who respects the game because they are the game.
The "U" is one consonant next to another vowel, so it's a long "U" sound. Think "tuesday" or "flu". With that in mind, the G is a hard G.
So it's Oogin.
Now, that's according to the rules of correct pronunciation of the English Language. Wizards could very well have spelled it that way meaning for it to be pronounced "Eugin".
But I'm 90% sure its a long U, and therefore "oogin".

Wait, I just read my own thread and realized I am wrong. I far and away prefer Eugene over Oogin. I just misyped, my bad.
If you say Oogin in a booming Thor-like voice, it does sound pretty cool though. I still prefer Eugene any day of the week.
I do like the other names you give though, but I'm not sure I agree because tapping out to play Eugene opens an opportunity to burn for that final 4 damage. But yes, it usually is game.

All the plebs at my store call him EW-DJINN. Filthy casuals.

If you are pronouncing the U the same way you pronounce "ewe - female sheep", then unless wizards has specifically stated they want it pronounced that way, you are pronouncing it wrong.

I will slap anyone who does not say Oogin. Anyone who disagrees with me should be punished.

I'm sorry, but when you mentioned Eugene, the first thing I thought of was "This guy?"
Imagine, Eugene, the Smolder Dragon.

Ugin has the "Oo" sound youre saying, though its best represented with a tbh. Like ber (Subtle TF2 Referance). Though I feel he is called Eugene as a sort of nickname like Gary.

Now the serious question, Oo-jin or Oo-gin. G or J sound after the U?

I personally think ewe-djinn rolls off the tongue better so that's how I say it. All my other pals say oo-gin but I don't care.

If you watch the Dragons of Tarkir trailer, Sarkhan says Ugin's name.

I didn't even realize there were issues with his pronunciation. It just looks like Oogin to me lol. Guess I can see where the confusion comes in though. Kind of like with Garruk

It's not really a matter of confusion where I am, it's just a matter of how funny it is to say Eugene. It's a much better name. Wizards takes this waaaay too seriously.
For the same reason I think they need another un-set.

Im pretty sure its pronounced "you-gin", with a hard g in gin.

I personally call him "Responce, Hero's Downfall". Other names include "Let's go to game two" and "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKK"
