Phyrexian Lore

Lore forum

Hey all, so after getting back into playing Magic, i'm growing more and more curious about the lore behind the game. I followed the Theros lore relatively closely, but now I want to read more into Phyrexia, or anything pertaining to the Phyrexians. I know Phyrexia is essentially artifact hell, but that is about it. Does anyone know where (be it website, books, etc.) that has the lore behind Phyrexia? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I almost always use the wiki on MTGSalvation for this, but it's generally not quite enough. I'd love to read the books, but I imagine there are quite a few, as there have been quite a few storylines in the past 20 years. I would need the time, the motivation, and the money to read these. None of which I really have.

You would also have to find the books. I believe the old ones are pretty hard to find.

if you are into umm.... slightly less legal alternatives, you can find the urza saga ones.

There are a lot of books that cover the magic storyline from beginning to now, but I think your best place to start is with the book called "The Thran". Also, the Urza's Saga books are must reads anyway, and Phyrexia plays a major role in those stories. Phyrexia is involved in every story at some level up until Mirrordin, and obviously they still played a part during and after those events.

I would recommend, however, that you read them with a grain of salt. They read pretty much like a lore entry on mtg salvation.

Or at least, thats how I felt they were.

Some are a bit rough around the edges, like "Planeswalker". But "Time Streams" was epic, couldn't put it down. Of course I'm a mtg nerd so take that with a grain of salt.

For New Phyrexia, read these guides to each colour faction:
White; blue; black; red; green.
