Hey so now we have the three story spotlights from Rivals of Ixalan. I don't know when we'll be getting the first story, but I want to do some speculating.

The first to be revealed was Induced Amnesia which appears to depict Jace modifying Vraska's memories. At first glance this appears as a bombshell which could indicate that Jace goes back on his resolution to respect Vraska's mind and to not invade it. This comes as a great surprise and probably threatens the relationship that has been developing.

I have now a new theory which supposes a scenario in which Jace is not actually invading Vraska's mind. It is possible that after Jace gets his memories back he and Vraska compare notes about Bolas and realize that she is in the employ of the bad guy. Perhaps then Vraska decides that she no longer wishes to fulfill the task for Bolas but Jace would reason that she cannot afford to do that because of how Bolas punishes failure. I think Jace would further reason that the only way for Vraska to make it through without both incurring the wrath of Bolas and tipping him off about Jace's whereabouts would be if she completes her task with no memory of Jace. Vraska would be very reluctant to agree to such a plan but perhaps Jace could convince her. Then he proceeds to modify her memories of the past several months.

Unfortunately this scenario is equally disastrous for their budding relationship, but at least it would not be a reversion of Jace's character.

If I remember correctly, Jace was effectively barfing up his memories at Vraska in the last story. Given the art, and his apparent condition in it, I think that the "amnesia" is a side affect of the same blow to his head

The Immortal Sun is why Bolas is there, and it almost has the exact same symbol as the azorious guild. This will probably have something to do with Azor himself, because he apparently had created a spell that kept planeswalkers out, the reverse of Ixalan's Binding.

Thoughts?

I still like the idea that Bolas wants the Immortal Sun so that he can create a planeswalker trap on another plane. He could invade Ravnica or Dominaria with his army which will attract planeswalkers who would oppose him. Then he could withdraw and leave his would-be opponents trapped and unable to interfere with his next plans. These opponents would of course be lead by the Gatewatch who would be over eager for revenge and likely to fall spectacularly into the trap along with reinforcements.

Mastermind's Acquisition reveals that this block can be considered another win for Bolas as it depicts Vraska sending the Immortal Sun on its way.

Is it just me, or is Bolas kind of getting old. I want Ugin or somebody new to be the cosmic all powerful, besides, Bolas seems to be unbeatable with the resources of the gatewatch. I want another cosmic entity to stop him.

P.S. What do you think Bolas's thoughts are on the eldrazi?

The art book spoilers already reaveal the circumstances of Jace erasing Vraska's memory as well as some other story points. I think these are leaks tho so it makes sense why your not mentioning them
