Shadows over Innsmouth

I'm 90% sure someone has said this already, but Shadows over Innistrad sounds suspiciously like Shadows over Innsmouth, a novel written by horror author H.P. Lovecraft. This would fit with the idea of Emmy coming back because she's quite cthulhu-esque, and she could be the shadow over innistrad. Also, she's the only Titan unaccounted for at the moment, from what I know.

I'm fairly certain that Emrakul isn't showing up in SOI, but I have no way to prove that. While the parallels to Shadows over Innsmouth could be intentional, it seems too overt for Creative.

Emrakul definitely returning in SOI

if emrakul does show up. i think they'll use innistrad's moon to trap him

If they use Innistrad's moon to try that then Emrakul may turn into a Were-Drazi!

But seriously if the moon is involved then Tamiyo had better have something to do with it. And I want to see a CMC 2 Tamiyo that reads "this card makes all jace's worthless by being 1,000 times better for aggro than jace is for control or tempo".

Yes, I have vast dreams.

It's going to be an exciting set, whatever happens! I love Innistrad.

Already been discussed, but once again it's "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" and is about a secret cult whose members interbreed with an underwater nation of immortal fish people called Deep Ones, only mentioning Cthulhu in passing... But excuse my pedantry. The set name is almost certainly inspired by it though.

Sweet, maybe we will get a hybrid. Half werewolf and half vampire.

@ subrosian - That sounds a lot like if there was a fusion between Zendikari Humans and Merfolk pre-sundering...

Get ready for Kiora babies!

Yeah I would be very interested to see a horror-based take on Merfolk for SOI to reference the Deep Ones. Maybe Merfolk Mutants or Merfolk Horrors? And clearly (I'm sure I said this in an earlier thread lol) the transition from person to Deep One would make for a great DFC mechanic. Perhaps a bit like Fading/Vanishing but it transforms instead of dies?

My feeling is that Emerakul is not staying on one plane but it's passing through them, leaving it's trail of eldrazi spawns/scions about. Jace, Sorin and Nahiri (?) following the trail that's left behind while trying to solve the problems that cone from it.

January 8, 2016 1:45 a.m.

I don't think emerakool is gonna show up because the art style for the eldrazi and innistrad are strikingly different.

I want emrakul to show up in New Phyrexia and have a standoff with the phyrexians. Magic's biggest bad guys goin' at it.

branston567 says... #15

Wouldn't that result in a phyrexian infected Eldrazi, that doesn't sound good for the multiverse

shinobigarth says... #16

i can't see them doing 2 eldrazi blocks back to back, i think this one will be about trying to find Sorin or whatnot, maybe Lili shows up again and Garruk if he's still there. but really I'm stoked cause Innistrad is the GOAT.

or what might be interesting if New Phyrexia heard about and decided to invade Innistrad...

also ELDRAZI DONT HAVE CONVENTIONAL M/F GENDERS SO STOP CALLING THEM HE OR SHE!

MagnorCriol says... #17

@shinobigarth - "The Eldrazi titans dont actually have genders. However, some Zendikari still refer to the risen titans with the same genders attributed to the pantheon of merfolk deities that were based on ancient memories of the titans: Ula (male), Cosi (male), and Emeria (female). Ula was derived from Ulamog, Cosi from Kozilek, Emeria from Emrakul and old habits die hard." -Doug Beyer, September 2015

I just want another Phyrexia block, maybe it can be like the Scars block and you can decide if the Eldrazi figure out how to corrupt Phyrexia or vice-versa.

shinobigarth says... #19

MagnorCriol yeah i know about that, but that would be like referring to me as female just cause someone on the other side of the world heard stories about me from their grandfather and i reminded them of some woman they knew.

It can also be Ob Nixilis seeking Nahiri & trying to conquer.
Innistrad also has a bunch of big ass demons released, running amok, and he could very well be teaming up with em.

Xica says... #21

Well i just realised that Nahiri probably will be on innistrad. And will be at least partially red.

So here are some falvour text from the accidentally leaked card: Show

Xica says... #22

...Considering the above flavour texts, and recent lore, it seems plausible that Sorin, Nahiri & Ugin didnt kill the Eldrazi because they wanted to use them.

This would explain how Sorin mustered strength for his once in a lifetime creation, avacyn. And why Nahiri could be angry at him ruining her world.
It would also explain falvour texts talking about sinister secrets of markov manor.
