I know this is a very little and stupid thing to even wonder, but as a dragon fan I couldn't help notice this little detail.
He has 2 thumbs on each claw? How/why did evolution make that kind of turn to this creature?
Looks a bit like the paw of a koala bear. Maybe the dragons on Kaladesh evolved from arboreal lizards. (Or maybe they're twisted by all the aether everywhere.)

@Emblem well, odd thing being... that "is" a thumb; a finger aimed in a different direction for better grip. So technically it has 2 on each claw. As well, dragons by default only have 4 fingers in total; no thumb at all sometimes just a 'hind' finger
Maybe this dragon is related to the Vedalken, who also have 6 fingers each.

It's not related to the Vedalkin. This dragon could just use it to grip smaller prey with ease, such as Gremlins and Dwarves. I mean dragons (outside of a few notable examples, such as Tarkir, or some legendary/Planeswalker ones) in MTG take after the traditional Western dragon, a beast of primal rage fury instinct greed and hunger.

It's not a question of how he grips it! It's a simple question of weight ratios!

RicketyEng He clearly uses his hands to catch prey/manipulate things, I meant he is so large things such as Gremlins may run away without the extra talon.

But is it African or European? How fast does it have to beat its wings to maintain its air speed velocity?

RicketyEng you're getting me with all of these Monty Python & The Holy Grail references lol
