I think you can use God for both male and female.

First, the Deck Help forum is for, well, deck help. This has nothing to do with deck help. Moved to Lore.

Although "god" is typically used to refer to male deities, it can also be used to refer to female deities. Keeping the naming consistent ("X, God of Y") was probably more important to the dev team than trying to identify the gods by gender.

My friend pointed this out to me too.

To keep all 15 cards similar, you have to have one creature type: God. Also, Legendary Enchantment Creature--Godess wouldn't have fit on the type line.

To keep them similar, you again need a template. X, God of Y worked just fine. Plus, Karametra, God of Harvests wouldn't fit on the type line if she was a godess.

Yeh but the word god is genderless from an etymology perspective. It doesnt refer to a male or female. It's like saying 'is table male or female?'. A god has no gender, it's just a thing.

As an addition, lore wise the Gods of Theros can appear in any form they want to.Human, Minotaur, Gorgan, Merfolk, Male or Female.
