Tetsuo and Teferi (Dominaria Spoilers)

Okay everyone is talking about time travel with this set and I'm no exception.
Tetsuko Umezawa is in this set. He has been officially spoiled. Teferi has also been spoiled for this set.
It is well known that Tetsuo Umezawa tried to kill Nicol Bolas in the past, but clearly he didn't finish the job. Maybe in Dominaria we're going back to do just that? Say Tetsuko meets the gatewatch and tells them about his (presumably) many-greats grandfather. Then the gatewatch asks Teferi to do them a solid and BAM. They help Tetsuko's ancestor to destroy Bolas.
Any thoughts, plot holes? Did I miss anything?

And I cry. But... maybe the ancestor convinces the gatewatch to go back? This just lost a lot of traction but it's still a decent headcanon.

This just went from "I've cracked the code" to "wow, wouldn't this be cool?".

On Teferi - he lost his spark during Time Spiral to save his homeland and permanently phase it out, as well as closing some time rifts. In Dominaria set, he gets his spark back and joins the gatewatch (teferi's Oath was part of the release notes).
So, that is a no on Tetsuko doing much.

I don't see why Teferi getting a spark would have any effect on this...

It does though - Tetsuo was only able to kill Bolas on the Meditaton Plane, where Bolas was much less powerful than he is otherwise. If 5 of the gatewatch stood no chance, how would 1/3 with a knife do?
Not to mention, Tetsuo Umezawa did not actually defeat Bolas, he simply eliminated his ability to planeswalk and locked him in the Meditation Realm.

So maybe that trick got passed down the line? A family of wizards who can lock walkers, combined with the gatewatch? That may well be enough. After all the watch has Teferi and Karn on their side for sure, and maybe Jhoira and/or Jaya Ballard too.

Except that the Gatewatch is currently 2/6ths of itself, the mana systems do not work like before (Tetsuo dropped a Meteor Hammer on Bolas' palace to destroy his source of mana and make him unable to planeswalk, a trick he used with Ramses Overdark too).

This seems super unlikely. The way the story is being told it seems like it is going to cumulate with Gatewatch 2.0 Vs. Bolas and his spooky army on Ravnica. Otherwise the whole plot line with Vraska wouldve just been pointless!

Frankly this is no longer story speculation. Think of this as an in-advance 'well why didn't they just do this'. Kinda like the eagles from LotR.
It's not gonna happen, but would be a lot easier if it did.

ZendikariWol, "Tetsuko" is a feminine name, yet you have been referring to the character with masculine terminology.

I'm not familiar enough with Japanese culture to have known that. Sorry!

ZendikariWol, I certainly did not intend to criticize you with my earlier post; "-ko" is a feminine suffix for Japanese names, similar to the "-ette" and "-elle" suffixes in French. Names that use that suffix include "Haruko," "Suzuko," "Michiko," "Fumiko," and so forth. Also, that suffix can be added to masculine names to make them feminine: i.e., "Haru" becomes "Haruko," "Ryo" becomes "Ryoko," and so forth.

This is something that I am gonna forget and then it'll come up and I'll have to say to myself
You knew this.
But in the meantime thanks for the heads up!

Tetsuo prepped very well for Nicky, he actually destroyed the dragon in body, mind and soul, that's coming from Nicol Bolas in the Time Spiral Novel and we all know how prideful and arrogant Nicky is to say something like that, not being true.
