The Brothers' War in a Core Set

Since Core Set 2021 focused heavily on Teferi and his role in the story, a user asked Mark Rosewater on Rosewater's Tumblr account if a future core set could retell the story of the Brothers's War, the earliest story in this game (in terms of being written, since The Thran is set before the Brothers' War, but was written after).

I personally feel that the Brothers' War would be better suited for a Commander set, with five mono-colored decks: blue for Urza, red for Mishra, black for Phyrexia, although I am not certain what factions would be white and green, but more players pay attention to core sets than to Commander sets, which makes core sets an ideal place to tell such a story. Given that Urza and Phyrexia have not been central to the story in many years, a core set would be a great way to introduce them to newer players, so that those players can understand and appreciate their significance to the story of this game, and the magnitude of the threat that Phyrexia, having conquered Mirrodin, poses to the multiverse.

What does everyone else say about this? Would you like to see the Brothers' War retold in a core set?

I for one would love to see something of the sort. A standard set though I don't believe it could be... number one reason being Phyrexian stuff means 'Infect', and I'm pretty sure infect is low on the Storm Scale (7: It's unlikely to return, but possible if the right environment comes along). If they altered it to being a different mechanic I think there would be alot of mixed feelings.

On the other hand I feel a return to Phyrexia (What's left of Mirrodin) is inevitable so anything to that regard will be saved for when they set the stage there.

One other thing is that no planeswalkers were involved in the Brothers' War, and every core set has contained planeswalkers since they were introduced, so what would WotC do in such a case? I personally would like to see a core set without any planeswalkers, but that is very unlikely to occur.

DemonDragonJ Urza himself became a planeswalker because of the conflict. Do you just mean that the card format/type didn't exist at the time?

Massacar I think it’s more that no planes walker as such existed during the brothers war. Urza was the only walker, and his spark only ignited when he blew up Dominaria for the first time to conclude the war. So wizards probably wouldn’t make an Urza walker card to illustrate his character in the war.
That would lead to a walker-less core set, et. all.

I could handle a walker less core set... I'm kinda of sick of walkers myself. But I agree that the retelling in someway should happen.

DuTogira I understand your point that no planeswalkers were involved during the events of the war itself.

Though it would also be plausible that they could make 2 Urza cards, a creature Urza (or just reprint the one they already have) and a planeswalker Urza for the end of the ark when he leaves Dominaria.

I'm not going to be disappointed just because of a lack of walkers, but I wouldn't be surprised if it made its way in there.

Isn't the easiest solution to this to make The Brothers' War a core set and just attach the three commander decks. Or make white Serra and green... Freyalise? Mirri? Multani?

ZendikariWol, actually, I believe that the nation of Argoth, which was devastated by the war, would represent the color green in a Commander set.

I was thinking that, commander decks I mean. Opens the door to reprints as well as new cards, but mono colored? I would think a mix of colors if not all multicolored.

I could see mono colored commander decks with:
Blue - Urza
Red - Mishra
Green - Argoth
White - Yotia
Black - Gix

DuTogira right on! it would be awesome to see these used, although we have Urza, Lord High Artificer and Titania, Protector of Argoth already, the rest would be great to see. I would personally like to see Tevesh Szat, Bo Levar, Commodore Guff, Leshrac and maybe if possable Gaea (not sure if Gaea was a plainswalker though).

MyFETTish Gaea was originally a green based planeswalker thought of as a goddess, but from what I understand re-conceptualized as just a green goddess when they reworked the continuity.

I am of the opinion they should do a 'history' set time to time. That way we can see and experience older characters such as Planeswalkers/characters that have perished in the story that just don't have cards as of yet. That way there is no risk to their standard /ongoing story environment. However, from what we've seen thus far, if we wait long enough they will all likely come out in commander precon decks at some point.
