Can someone tell me what the story to theros is I get the whole elspeth is there to try and find reinforcements for her war and get roped into the hero's path but outside of that what is going on in theros
The whole reason Elspeth went to Theros is because she has an attachment there, and she feels like the Gods of Theros can't be corrupted. Like her home plane and Mirrodin were by the Phyrexians. However, Heliod conscripts Elspeth to find and defeat the Usurper, Xenagos, The Reveler
.
Xenagos is a Satyr who has awakened his spark, and is devastated by what the multiverse has to offer him. He feels insignificant in comparison to the wide expanse of the multiverse. Because of this he is currently looking for a way to make himself into something bigger than life. He's trying to become a God.

if i remember correctly, Alara is not her original home plane and the Phyrexians did ransack it, triggering her spark and taking her to Bant. When the Shards were whole again, and Grixis started to breach the borders of Bant, old memories flooded back to Elspeth and she heard that another plane was being ransacked by the Phyrexians, and since she had power, she wanted to do something about it. Unfortunately, as we all know, Mirrodin became new Phyrexia, and she planeswalked away to Theros to find peace. Killed a hydra, got her sword turned into a spear by a god, and who knows whats going to happen next.
What i'm most intrigued for is how Ajani is coming into play with this block. teaser art revealed the planeswalker fighting alongside Elspeth so assumedly, the next Ajani card might be the GW planeswalker we're waiting for.

Legendinc - I wouldn't hold my breath for the new Ajani to be a GW. While it is probable, Mark Rosewater has said that they aren't going to make a planeswalker with a specific color combination just because. While he would definitely be W, I don't expect him to have a second color/have his second color be G.

I'm more interested in the sense of impeding calamity that may strike Theros, which is hinted at in the trailer. Warriors struggling against increasing hordes of Minotaurs and monsters of unusual size? Omenspeaker's predicting omens of doom? Someone is behind all this? Who could it be? One of the lesser gods? An evil gorgon? PHYREXIPIXIANSGRARGH!?!??

JWiley129, actually, with Ajani doing things in the past that have to do with putting +1/+1 counters on creatures put together with the fact that g/w in Theros was explained as revolving around +1/+1 counters, a g/w Ajani would make a lot of sense to me. No, I don't think it's a perfect theory, but it has something more to go on than just because we want a g/w PW.

Also, Ajani IS from Naya, the RGW shard. He's already had a printing as RW, so it wouldn't be too far of a stretch for there to be a GW printing.

I'm not saying that he won't be GW, I'm just saying I don't think it's likely. I think that every color combination should have a planeswalker, but I want WotC to do it right, and not to please the fans. While Ajani very well could be a GW 'walker, I would prefer a new character than giving Ajani a new "skin".

I think we might get a UG planeswalker in this block with Kiora Atua. she controls big blue creatures like krakens and leviathans, and that is a thing in Greek Mythology

@Valentine35 he's going to help gideon fight the eldrazi, just because, i want to go back to zendikar. And the new ajani may be G/W, he is from naya, so G/W is a possibility.

I wish I knew what Ashiok was up to, because they are arguably one of the creepiest looking villains I have ever seen. I think they might be the one manipulating Xenagos, The Reveler into a position to overthrough the other gods. It's wink-and-nod canon that the gods get their power from belief, and if Ashiok is disrupting that, it could provide an environment in which Xenegos could ascend to godhood.
((Legendary creature, god enchantment planeswalker))

She's not there for reinforcements. She's there to stay away from wars. When she went to Bant, she was trying to stay away from war and just be another face in the crowd. She went to Mirrodin because she was asked to and because of the Phyrexians themselves. From what I can tell, she was tortured by them as a child. Which set off her spark.
But anyways, Koth had trapped her in stone between a wall and a door that the New Phyrexians were pushing through. It was just to force her to Planeswalk away, he knew she wouldn't die. So, she ended up in a cave in Theros and was healed by the disciples of one of the lesser gods, Phenax, I think. So, now she's trying to just lay low in Theros and not be a hero. She thought it was a good idea, seeing as there are Gods living there. But then she was attacked by a hydra. She defended herself and slaughtered it, which earned the notice of Heliod, God of the Sun who has named her as his Champion. Hence, Elspeth, Sun's Champion .
