No he's probably speaking to the land. We know kozilek isn't dead and that he isn't yet on the plane.

I felt like he was calling another titan whilst reading, but maybe not. I don't think zendikar is going to make it though

My favorite Planeswalker is being a badass again. :D

He's back! Here's hoping he unleashes Kozilek and then hightails it out of there.

It doesn't make any logical sense for him to be summoning an eldrazi from the ground, especially with his monologue about not wanting to use the eldrazi to help him

Ruffigan says... #10

Well we're pretty positive Kozilek is underground, mostly from Kozilek's Channeler. But he was saying he didn't want to help them because, in that plan, he is unable to get his planeswalker spark thus his victory over Zendikar is pyrrhic (he dies destroying it). Since he has his spark now, he wants to summon Kozilek to expedite the destruction of Zendikar.

November 25, 2015 3:02 p.m.

julianjmoss It makes perfect sense he would do that. As soon as he got his power back, he was glad to let the Eldrazi gobble up Zendikar for Thanksgiving dinner.

Is it not odd that Ob Nixilis used the term "pyrrhic victory," when that term is named after king Pyrrhus, a real person who almsot certainly does not exist in this universe? That is akin to how the card Volt Charge is an oddity, since volts are named for Alessandro Volta, another person who does not exist in this game.

Apart from that, this was such an awesome story! I really enjoyed how it was told from Nixilis' perspective, and his thoughts on everything that was occurring. I could not help but give a wicked grin of triumph at the end, when Nixilis regained his power and then reached into the plane; did he awaken Kozilek, who shall likely be appearing in the next set? I really am enjoying this storyline, very much!

I like how they turned trapping Ulamog in the hedrons into a giant deus ex machina for Ob Nix to get his spark back.

November 25, 2015 5:08 p.m.

DemonDragonJ it is likely he learned those terms from an unknown plane he visited, which for simplicity purposes we shall call Earth. Perhaps these people, or very similar people, existed on Earth.

Ruffigan says... #15

That's looking too far into it. Regardless of the origins of the term, it's a part of the English language now and takes less words than the alternative.

November 25, 2015 6:39 p.m.

I firmly believe that Ob reached out to Kozilek.

"...reality recoiled and splintered merely from my thoughts approaching."

Kozilek is the Titan of Distortion, and this quote sounds exactly like what would happen if you mentally reached out to the Titan of Distortion. What with the supposed Kozilek spoiler being leaked, this cannot be just a coincidence.

There is enough of a threat to Zendikar left that Wizards needs Oath of the Gatewatch to 'wrap up' the current story. AND, even then, MaRo as well as other sources from Wizards has confirmed that the Eldrazi's story is not nearly done yet; Emrakrul is still out and about.

I personally think Battle for Zendikar block is merely the climax of the Eldrazi's story as it relates to the plane of Zendikar, and that the Eldrazi will still continue to be a present antagonist throughout Magic's future. Whether or not Zendikar gets destroyed in the process? I'm not going to speculate on that, because frankly, I have no idea whatsoever how this story is going to be resolved in OTG.

Sorry about the long post. I simply wanted to throw my ideas out there. I strongly believe the evidence shows that Ob reached out to Kozilek.

Urrrrgggh. Nixilis is a very bad person.

DemonDragonJ also, like other fantasy stuff, the English language is probably not the language used in the Magic multiverse and flavour, story, names and all that stuff are generally translated from their language to ours, thereby making words like volt useable, as it is just a translation into English and the closest translation to whatever the word is in their language.

November 26, 2015 12:50 a.m.

DemonDragonJ says... #19

bennybubbles, yes that would be the best explanation for the usage of that term.

GoldGhost012, would it not be more accurate to say that it was a diabolus ex machina? enter image description here

Back to the original question - "So, how do we feel about black "destroying" an artifact?"

I don't view this a destroying an artifact. - A single Hedron.

I see this more as the manipulation of an Artifact... the entire ring being a single Artifact. - He merely altered it's purpose for his own undertaking.

After which, he simply moved an artifact out of position, and allowed the leylines to do the rest.

My take on how Ob can 'reach-out' and 'summon' Kozilek.

Ob's original plan was to use the 'Heart of Kalani' in conjunction with a circle of Hedrons to restore his spark. - He mentioned that he needed something of immense power an a Network of Hedrons.

After Nissa took the Heart and destroyed his network, his options were limited. - He knew well enough not to 'work with' the Eldrazi, but did not have time to create a new heron network and fins something of adequately immense power.

When he said that the Zendiakrians 'did his work for him', he was not just taking about making the heron network... he was also taking about finding immense power. - Ob channeled some the power of Ulamog herself! - It is this infusion of Eldrazi power that allowed him to regain his spark, and it was this same Eldrazi power that enabled him to sense Kozilek's presence and communicate with him.

So?... Ob is now to the Eldrazi as Silver Surfer was to Galactus...?

November 27, 2015 11:43 a.m.

Rayenous, Ulamog is in no way a "her". It is an it.

November 27, 2015 11:47 a.m.

Rayenous says... #24

You are correct it was Emrakul that was regularly referred to as 'her' or 'she'... - Emrakul was viewed as a 'Goddess' and Ulamog and Kozilek as 'Gods', thus linking them to a gender. - Though neither male nor female can be 'properly' used for any of the 3.

Either way, not overly relevant to they concept of my post.
