So we have our first non-Planeswalker centered uncharted realms and boy is it a doozy.

Drana fights a huge Eldrazi, and she decides to take her band of vampires and mortals from Guul Draz to Sea Gate to help Gideon take down Ulamog. Sounds sweet!

this was beautiful. Vampiring an eldrazi was a pretty cool story point, and the vampires are confirmed to be spawns of ulamog that gained their own consciousness now, correct?

Essentially. The Vampires were made as thralls to the Eldrazi, to act in their stead. I'm not sure if they are eldrazi themselves or just humans corrupted by the desire to consume that the Eldrazi have.

Cool read. I especially liked the line that said the Eldrazi are better at vampirism than the vampires are.

Geez, first they're sunlight-avoiding bloodthirsty monsters, then they're awkward teenagers that sparkle in the sun, and now they're the Eldrazi? What even are vampires these days...?

Man, this UR was pretty badass. The story line they are keeping going for BFZ is top notch, enjoying it a lot more than Khans or Theros

This story seemed very hard to write. Like the author had to describe some stuff that would have been mind blowing in a visual form but that's hard to make clear with just words.

Wow, this story was awesome! I especially liked how it focused on a non-planeswalker character, a rarity recently. It was nice to see a black-aligned character, and and a vampire, no less, actually fighting to help others.

Even better was the fact that Drana actually connected with the mind of the Eldrazi, learning their thoughts and motivations. It seems that they may possibly have a place of origin, and could even be persuaded to leave Zendikar; that would be a very interesting twist, and far less of a deus ex machina than the heroes suddenly discovering a new source of power that shall enable them to destroy the Eldrazi.

My only dislike of the story was that Enkindi's death was too fast and trivial; I understand that it was to show the nature of this war, but he was a named character, and named characters should have more dramatic deaths than that.

Again, I am greatly anticipating this block; I shall admit that my interest in the first Zendikar block was only average, but I definitely am far more interested in this block than I was in that one.

I don't think Enkindi's death was trivial.

It did a number of things for the story...

1) Showed the willingness for self sacrifice of the Kor. - Even when he knew the Drana had set him up and there was no chance of survival.
2) Showed just how well Drana knew the Kor, and just how easily she can manipulate them.
3) Exemplifies the differences between Zendikar's Vampires and other beings of Zendikar... even though the story was focused on how, when faced with such adversity as the Eldrazi, all beings are brought down to the same level of survival.
4) Helped to show just how out classed the Kor and Vampires were when facing the Eldrazi, specifically the main one they were trying to take down.

Wow, just, wow. The vampires on Zendikar make so much sense now.
