What legend should become a planeswalker?

If you could choose from an existing legandary creature, who would you want to see become a planeswalker, I'd honestly like to see melek (yea he'd have to inherent a spark, and yes I know he's dead, but I honestly just want to see a weird planeswalker) or maybe Thalia, I really like her a lot

EASY ONE: ME!

HOW COME LITTLE BLUE MAGE, GOLGARI DEATH SQUAD, AND NIV'S TOADY GET TO HAVE ALL THE FUN?

WOULD BE SO COOL TO TRAVEL WITH DOMRI ... SO MANY PLANES WOULD BE BETTER WITH GRUUL INFLUENCE, HAR HAR!

Krenko, Mob Boss would be a very interesting planeswalker. Command an interplanar goblin gang? I think yes.

I would like to see Sidisi, Undead Vizier become a planeswalker. Sultai sidisi was by far my favorite legendary from Khans block but she is now the Undead Vizier.

Surrak would be cool, but he'd probably be similar to so many we already have, as in walkers that just stay on their home plane even after their spark ignites (Sahelli and Samut come to mind as recent ones). Therefore, Any of Nicol Bolas's fellow Elder Dragons, or Prosh or some dragon like that. Just be cool to have a destructive dragon like that just wreck some unsuspecting plane

Id love to see Myojin of Night's Reach be a Planeswalker. She already was able to bridge the gap between planes, and plus a less humanoid Planeswalker would be neat.

Sliver Hivelord/Sliver Legion/Sliver Queen/Sliver Overlord

Because MTG needs a planswalking Sliver... some kind of new adaptation with the spark igniting in the Brood queen/leader inherited from slivers being in proximity to all the planswalkers running around.... plus im kinda just on a Sliver kick as of late because im brining my sliver deck out of retirement/rebuilding it so I've just got Slivers on the brain.

September 22, 2017 12:30 p.m.

Icbrgr sliver planeswalker gathers and army and conquers the mutiverse, I chose Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite as my Planeswalker.Slivers try to conquer New Pyrexia, they adapt to the oil so they won't get rekt... I would love it

The tricky part to me is determining what kind of niche could the new walker fill that is in fact new. White for instance only really has 2 niches left in walkers which is pillow-fort/life gain (technically not filled by Ajani anymore) and enchantment/aura(/prison?) focused. The latter of which has no creature that is assuredly alive still and/or would be willing to utilize the ability to leave one world for another (or at least is in fact mono-white and is a legend).

That last part is what stops many legends from being possible walkers. The Planeswalker spark is called as much for a reason. Like I would love to see Isamaru, Hound of Konda in PW form, but he's just a dog. He'd only be confused where his master went. On the flip side though, anyone, and I mean ANYONE, from the old Weatherlight crew could/should become planeswalkers in their own right (even Squee).

The other part for myself is keeping the new walker balanced. A "sliver" walker for instance would more likely have to be a type of a herald of the slivers thematically, and maybe would be colorless in cost, but have some combination of the five colors in its abilities to ensure it must be in the five colors decks, but not end up overloaded because of the color costs adding power it doesn't need. For an example, think of how pushed in power cards with 5+ colored mana but no generic costs to cast can be.

A mono red goblin walker would actually suffer the same kind of balance issues depending on which on you go with. Originality wouldn't be hard, but if the abilities are based on the legend and where they came from, then Krenko and Kiki-Jiki would never make it as walkers for fear of their resulting abilities being too OP. Ib on the other hand could be very original, but functionally useless, and this leaves Grenzo or maybe Zada as the better picks then for a walker. Wort and the shattergang brothers are also options, but they aren't mono-colored.

If I had to really pick any legend ever, and could make it work, I might actually pick Thrun, the Last Troll, because he has both motivation to use his spark and he'd be able to fill a niche in green similar to Gideon, but might supplement it by lending his abilities to other creatures. as opposed to taunting people to hit him.

Thalia definitely has my vote... It'd interesting to see her abilities due to her heavy tax nature

+1 for Thalia from me as well. She would be a terrific planeswalker!

Thrun, the Last Troll would be a great planeswalker. Very underrated character imo

A also agree with Thalia, and the weather light crew, specifically hanna

I wouldn't mind seeing Teysa become a planeswalker, but I doubt she would leave Ravnica. I'm trying to think of a character that would both be a cool planeswalker and actually leave their home plane. Jhoira of the Ghitu would also be a cool walker.

Qolorful Hanna might be a tad too dead to be a planeswalker, but I could honestly see Gerrard becoming one if they did Weatherlight crew.

As TheRedGoat implies, planeswalking can really only be given to sentient creatures, so that does block out a group of legendaries.

I would like to see a planesalker of a creature type we haven't seen before (I know planeswalkers don't have creature types, so from a flavor perspective of course). We have a dragon planeswalkers and a demon planeswalker, so how about and angel of a sphinx? Maybe Linvala, Keeper of Silence or Sigarda, Host of Herons. It'd be interesting to see how she would cope with her new role as archangel while being a planesalker. At the same time, seeing Sharuum the Hegemon as a planeswalker would be interesting too, because she kind of already knows that other planes can exist, due to Alara's mending. Hydras can't work because they're not sentient, as far as I know.

Thalia would be interesting too, as she has a well-defined character.

I want a Sphinx Planeswalker very badly, but I don't think Isperia would leave Ravnica, Alhammarret is dead, Unesh may not be sentient, and Sharuum is too closely related to Crucius, a sphinx without a card who's been alluded to as being a Planeswalker.

I wouldn't mind an Onakke either, but their only legend is Kurkesh and he, like all of the others, is a spirit.

Ith could make a good taxes Planeswalker, but he's quite dead and canonically not a Planeswalker.

An Ur-Dragon Planeswalker would be great. Not sure how it works with him being like, aethers representation of dragons or something, but it would be cool.

SteelSentry Jhoira was actually already a planeswalker when she was in the story, her card was just made before the planeswalker type.

As for me, want a true goblin as a walker like Ib Halfheart, Goblin Tactician we've seen smart goblins and talented goblins, but I want a goblin walker that truly represents the masses.

Postmortal_Pop Jhoira was not a planeswalker. She has near-immortality because her aging process was interfered with during the temporal distortions at Tolaria. The only time she "planeswalked" was when she was captain of the Weatherlight, but she herself is no more a planeswalker than any other member of the Weatherlight is.

Phage the Untouchable (Jeska, Touched by Infinity)

She was a planeswalker before the cards existed

Grandmother Sengir is an actual planeswalker named Ravi with an active planeswalker spark. She never really hid her planeswalker ability either so she really should have a planeswalker card

Sadly, no one wants to see another godamn Homelands expansion

Is that an issue? we are talking about innistrad home of the undead.

P.s.:not to mention that after things like "khans of tarkir time anomaly", as the butterfly effect could easily mean hes alive)

kanokarob says... #29

The Tarkir history change did not affect other planes. Its been explicitly stated to be so because time travel causes too many problems if it isn't self contained.

I'd love to see him in a commander set or something like that. Maybe if they redo planeswalker commanders again, like with Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath and friends

@chosenone124: I'd fucking love another Homelands expansion. It has some of the best lore in Magic, the cards were just terrible in power level. But look at that flavor!

Anywho, I choose Fblthp (as seen on Totally Lost) or Squee, Goblin Nabob. Squee, Goblin Nabob would be especially awesome.

sylvannos I hope Squee is still alive. There is some ambiguity on the nature of his immortality

I feel like a Sliver walker would be cool mechanically (0: Until end of turn, Slivers are Planeswalkers with base loyalty equal to their power.) But I'd really like to see a homunculus or goblin planeswalker.
