I'm not 100% sure what you are asking, but I think that Nicol Bolas is definitely the most powerful post mending at least.

I believe the question is:

"Which Planeswalker in MtG lore has proved him/herself to be the most powerful, based on the badass things they've done using their spark?"

Criteria could be:
- Most badass thing
- Greatest number of badass things
- Something else, chosen by you

Without a doubt Karn, though this is in raw potential and not in actual deed for the most part. This is essentially for two reasons:

-He's the one and only modular planeswalker, and has repeatedly incorporated ludicrously powerful artifacts, he is the legacy weapon. The thing urza created to do what he could not, a point for him over Urza. Nothing would stop him from incorporating more, how about mindslaver, or the mirari?

-He has perfect time travel, as in he can go back and change the past paradox free. Furthermore he is the only being in existance that can do this.

He holds back because he is a pacifist, a probably nihilist and certainly lacks a reason to try for anything anymore.

Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker has held the title for some time now. Not even to mention the fact that he is a fuckin dragon.

Nicol Bolas.

Or at least, in trying to prove he is, he went bat-shit insane.

There is absolutely no way to compare the Pre- and Post-Mending Planeswalkers. Pre-Mending Planeswalkers were basically gods- they could do anything, limited only by their imagination and experience. I believe the only Planeswalkers to be walkers during both eras are Nicol Bolas, Karn, and Sorin Markov. Iffy on Sorin.

The most powerful Pre-Mending Planeswalker was probably Urza, just because he did so much with his vast power. Nicol Bolas may have had more power, but he spend a lot of time from when he ascended to the Mending trapped inside his mind realm. Post-Mending, Nicol Bolas is the most powerful- and he's trying to become even more powerful because he's a evil power-hungry dick.

Both post, and pre-Mending, Nicol Bolas has my vote. As an Elder Dragon, he already had power rivaling that of pre-Mending walkers. As a Planeswalker, and a very powerful one, he most likely was the most powerful walker - and entity in the multiverse. (excluding from this argument Taysir of Rabiah, in his Five Made One form, and his revisionist editing b.s. by authors.)

I agree with Karn being the most powerful. Keep in mind that he didn't just incorporate the Mirari, he CREATED it. He created an artifact that could grant the wish of the holder. Not to mention he also created his own plane. Though, lore wise Eiko, you have a few flaws in your post.

Karn is no longer a pacifist, after the memory lock on him was shattered by a powerful blow to the head. He also cannot travel in time paradox free, as is evident by the destruction of the Tolarian Academy after he tried to go back to save Jhoria. Though it was in part due to the time machine failing, it was Karn using it that caused it to fail.

So its down to Karn, Silver Golem /Karn Liberated vs Nicol Bolas /Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker .

My vote goes to Karn cause he can use all 5 colors of mana and that's gotta say something about power.

Zodiac Rooster . Oh wait...

In seriousness, I would have to vote for Karn Liberated .

Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded ....Hah.

But as stated, Karn Liberated or Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker . I personally think Elspeth, Sun's Champion is extremely powerful. I don't know how she does in other formats though, since I can't play outside of Standard/Pauper/EDH due to funds.

Its obviously Vraska the Unseen since her spark nothings in her way. you can read her lore, but all you need to know from it is"...her targets die swiftly once she commits herself. After her mission is completed, she disappears back into the aether, taking her expertise to other planes to gain experience and add to her ever growing collection of trophies.".
Its Jace's turn next :P Next duel deck: Jace vs. Vraska!!

umm... karn... of course. although i am slightly confused as to why people are overlooking jace as a respectable choice.

December 9, 2013 12:08 a.m.

acbooster says... #23

t321livewire, it's probably because Jace is a post-Mending walker, and as such never had the raw power that the pre-Mending walkers such as Urza or Nicol Bolas had.

Everything any other Planeswalker, no matter how powerful, did, they did because Bolas tricked them into doing it. Everything Chuck Norris has ever kicked, he kicked because Bolas tricked him into doing it.

GoldGhost012 says... #26

To the best of my knowledge, Yawgmoth wasn't a Planeswalker.

Turn_Soonest, Mirrodan, Argentum, and New Phyrexia are different names for the same plane. Argentum was the original name, and it was then renamed Mirrodan after Memnarch went insane and took it over. It became New Phyrexia when the Phyrexians crushed the remaining Mirran resistance force.
