Who is Teyo Verada?

Teyo Verada is the "unknown planeswalker" on the cover of the Ravnica novel; standing along side Kaya, Chandra and Gideon.

The only thing mentioned is that he is a shieldmage from an unknown plane; and his spark ignited at the most inconvenient time; during the battle on Ravnica with the other walkers.

So not only will he have a WTF moment, but also appear on a different world with the fate of the Multiverse hanging in the balance.

A protection mage per se would lean towards mono-, but any further thoughts?

Further thoughts? Gideon is gonna die. I have suspected this for a while now, but given how generally uninteresting Gids is as a character, I think WotC wants to get rid of him.

They are literally introducing a character with nearly identical powers. What further proof do we need?

I wouldn't say that. Remember Hazoret's Prophecy before Hour of Devastation:

Judgment Show

Bolas, as old and powerful as he is, is certainly not immortal post-mending.

Actually, Hazoret (before hour of devastion) would have considered Bolas both immortal AND a god. That being said, there is a solid argument as to whether Bolas is immortal. He doesn't age, being a dragon, and is extraordinarily powerful. So unless someone proactively kills him- which Hazoret would not think possible, he will never die.

Bolas does age. He's getting rickety in the Alara Unbroken novel, but he gets a face-lift when he absorbs the Maelstrom. The rules for dragons are a little vague, but we have that to go on, at least.

Okay. So as long as Bolas keeps absorbing power (likely not a problem for him), he never ages.

Honestly, and hear me out, I don't think that Gideon's gonna die due to Bolas'. my prediction is that Gids dies thanks to the black blade eating his soul. It would make sense and have a bit of irony to it, since it's a man whose whole thing is morality and righteousness die to the one sinful thing he has done to end a multiverse level threat.

Also, second weird theory, I think that shield boy may actually be from Vryn, just because of how the clothes look in the pic and comparing it to clothes from other cards related to Vryn (think lots of dull colors and leathers). Which would also make sense, since his spark may igniting from almost dying in a war would be a suitable back story and would make a good roundabout to Vryn and finishing Jace's story where it began.

BIG question remaining though- who do you guys think Ajani's retrieving? I think he's going after Ugin.

Gideon can’t die before dealing with the Heliod drama. He’s got a score to settle.
