This is the Modern-specific advertise-your-deck thread!

Modern format rules

Here are the rules:

  1. You may link one of your decks in each of your posts. Do not list more than one deck per post.
  2. When you post, you must offer feedback on the deck posted immediately before yours (leave the feedback on that deck's page). This feedback needs to be genuine; "Cool deck" replies don't count. Try to be as helpful as possible.
  3. You may not post another deck in this thread again until a week after your previous deck post (by the day, not the exact minute). This is to make sure that other participants have a fair chance of getting some attention.
  4. Do not post unrelated comments in this thread. Leave the deck discussion on the deck pages. Additionally, don't comment just to subscribe to this thread. Use the subscribe button at the bottom of the page.
  5. This thread is stickied and does not expire.

When you share one of your decks, you should offer some information about what you want it to do, what specifically you think you need help with, etc. The more information you give people about your deck, the better the help you're likely to receive.

You're also encouraged to use the deck-large format to make your decks more visible:

[[deck-large:Dominus-Dreamcrusher Edition]]

While you're here, check out these recommendations for other ways to get views on your deck.

If you're feeling up to it, you can also try to write a primer for your deck.

Talk about a blast. I can't remember the last time I had this much fun with an aggro deck. Make sure you're comfortable with how timing works, particularly exactly when things come into and out of play.

I've been kicking around a handful of card options, but at the moment this is working best for me. It's not a tier 1 deck, but it can beat anything on a given night and it's tons of fun to play.

I'm open to any thoughts or suggestions, naturally.

If by upgrade you mean pouring even more money out and hoping it solves the problem, i think the deck could play Aether Vial & Noble Hierarch as well..

Jokes aside, i would under under no circumstances create a deck that runs Dark Confidant alongside 4x Bloodbraid Elf & 2x Jace, the Mind Sculptor. (...ok maybe if you have plenty ways to gain life or something like Madcap Experiment into Platinum Emperion)
However if you are in blue, you can use its draw spells, meaning that you won't accidentally kill yourself by topdecking high cmc cards with bob.

Well this franken deck has a glaring issue.
It does perfectly agaisnt most deck, with game ending high cmc silver bullets, or plan B with cheap silver bullets mixed with good old stompy beatdown.

While plan B works fine against pretty much everything, i would love to have a 7-9 cmc finisher that actually does something against tron and (UW)control, to get those nice turn 2 scoops!

Hey guys, today I make a new deck:

This deck is basically a kiki evolution deck that chances Eldritch Evolution for Prime Speaker Vannifar . Also it have another chances on the maindeck. It's not very originally, but have some new ideas.

January 11, 2019 7:22 p.m.

Asder says... #12

TheSimikBOat Maybe it's worth running eldritch evolution just because of how good it is. Not a huge amount but maybe cut a Prime Speaker Vannifar for 1 because she is legendary. Also, an Ezuri, Renegade Leader or some other game-winning mana sink such as Craterhoof Behemoth could be useful as I can really see any good mana sinks other than Duskwatch Recruiter  Flip.

I thought you were supposed to review the deck the person above you has posted, it clearly says so in the description. I've been looking at the recent posts and the last person to actually review (there are some people who might have been talking about the deck above them but it hardly counts as a review) the deck above them was StoryArcher on December 15th. The whole point of this forum is, you post a deck knowing that someone looks at and reviews it and in return, you look at and review someone else's. Anyway, let's hope this happens from now on.

Not sure if this could actually keep up at all in modern, but seems potentially pretty fun to pilot. Mostly just shooting for something that could win a few rounds at fnm. The main things I'm looking for help with are:

  • Balance of ramp and prison
  • Getting enough answers into the main deck
  • Better ways to handle non-targetted removal
  • Perhaps a better wincon than Yavimaya Enchantress

For the enchant deck, im not sure how much blue adds to the deck, other than copy enchantment, being all other blue cards are hybrid. I would consider using cards that give you hexproof, being there are a lot of Target player cards. Itll help in burn and 8-rack matches. There is a 2 drop enchantment creature that does this.

Master_Tame: Your deck looks interesting! I would consider adding some more lands, most controlling decks run around 26, and Overflowing Insight isn't getting any cheaper!

You don't have much combo hate in your main, I would cut some of the Lifegain cards to add some countermagic.

JTMS is still crazy, proably could use some, but not neccesary.

Telling Time would probably be better as Serum Visions or Opt , the 1 mana can really make a difference.

I would also check the gatherer to see if there are any older modern legal cards that are similar to Wheel and Deal , there were a lot of cards that looked pretty questionalble. Good Luck!

So Mono color decks in my opinion are fairly weak, because you gain so much from a 2nd color. I would go boros control. Add in cards like Blasphemous Act there are a lot of variations of that deck online. I would use that deck as an outline.

April 24, 2019 5:28 p.m.

abbatromebone says... #36

Plazmasoul Blue tron is a weird thing to me. Tron works well because of ramp turn 3 becoming turn 7 is very powerful. So Green works well because of its land based abilties and its way of filtering. Blue tron loses this so I feel they tend to just be weaker all around. The blue strategy is to stall and draw cards. Having those big creatures out doesn't help you because you've given your opunnet time to get big creatures as well so cards like Wurmcoil Engine end up being less effective. Not only that but the card advantage you generate doesn't do as much as it would in other blue decks. - Blue tron is like playing green control, it doesnt really work. I would rather play UWx control deck, where my card advantage will be more powerful.

Xica says... #39

JoshFox I have been workig on a deck somewhat similar to yours, imho the following mistakes should be corrected:

  • Noble Hierarch > Birds of Paradise , as it allows you to push through damage, in plan B, with Geist, and Surrak, much, much better

  • Fauna Shaman is a trap card - at least it seemed so in my deck. The problem is that everyone runs removal for it. Meanwhile you could run cards like Life's Legacy that dig through the library much better. Maybe having few cards in hand is that good - but i think there are more effective ways to get rid of said card for more benefit, of the top of my head the spellshaper cycle comes to mind.

  • Running noncreature sideboard cards is a grave error for this kind of deck. For example i would surely replace Engineered Explosives with Cataclysmic Gearhulk (as it effectively starts with 5 copies in deck thanks to evolution), or if you need to fight mass artifacts Glissa Sunseeker is probably one of the best answers, it can kill anything without first strike that has 3 or less toughness in combat, and she is the queen of sweeping up artifacts (and can be found with evolution)

Xica, thank you for the great feedback!

I'm going to play with the Noble Hierarch numbers and see where I feel comfortable. Exalted is good, but casting your spells on curve is great.

Fauna Shaman is for discarding your dork and putting an Impervious Greatwurm in hand to fling. If I wanted just raw card draw I would just go Lead the Stampede but this is tutoring a card to hand.

I will add the creatures you recommended to my Maybeboard (as well of some of the guys from your list!). I was wondering about that as well and will actively work to add more utility to the Sideboard. Is there a risk in going all in on the hatebear plan?

I copied your post to me deck list for future reference. Great stuff. Thanks again!

Akromathia you need 4 immerwolves, to keep them from flipping back. Id consider more copies of Moonmist because it flips everyone, and its a good combat trick. - You want the human version to be not as weak so cards like Reckless Waif  Flip are good to run 4 copies. Thats why Wolfbitten Captive  Flip is also good. - Cheaper creatures is also amazing so I would run 4 Duskwatch Recruiter  Flip - Mayor of Avabruck  Flip gets out of control if you dont deal with him, as well as keep your humans alive before they transform. - Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip helps you keep the battle field so 4 of him is not bad also - Instigator Gang  Flip is an interesting card. I would run 1 or 2. - Moonlight Hunt this card is run sometimes. I like it in the SB for when you have to deal with big creatures. - IF you can afford it Cavern of Souls is amazing,. - your maybe board contains lots of spells. I love the want for burn but here is bad. You want to keep your cards flipped and you wont always have immerwolf sadly. Id pull out every spell that isn't bolt (simply its the best red removal). Keep Moonmist as well. Isochron Scepter is a mainboard card and not great in this deck. - Destructive Revelry is a good card. Just think of the enchantments that hurt you. I don't forsee to many. Maybe only run 3. I say enchantments because there are better artifact hate cards.
- SB suggestions: Grafdigger's Cage is always good for grave hate for non-white decks. Pithing Needle can really help in some games. Blood Moon can win games, just be careful so you don't screw your self over. Choke if you really want to piss blue players off.
- Rhythm of the Wild might be a good replacement for your current enchantment.

KaiyanK Hi, I've played mono-black a whole bunch. Zombies is an interesting tribe with some cool options.

Right now you are setup as a slow aggro deck- the traditional fix to that is to become a fast aggro deck. You can pack a decent disruption package and zombie making enchantments to become more midrange so long as you pack card advantage tools. The important part is looking over your options and picking cards that work well together. I have a big list of mono black stuff I've made work in modern. Mono black deckbuilder's toolbox

Key options are;

Stitcher's Supplier +Graveyard shenanigans ( Haunted Dead etc)

Zombie Infestation +discard/graveyard shenanigans

Geralf's Messenger / Gray Merchant of Asphodel

Gurmag Angler best zombie in the format

Korlash, Heir to Blackblade powerful ramp w/ Lashwrithe

Mikaeus, the Unhallowed easy combo fuel, if you can reach six mana

Haakon, Stromgald Scourge & Bridge from Below powerful shenanigans.

Languish Budget damnation dodged by big creatures.

I'm testing a combo list Familiar Ground at the moment- its a hybrid umbral mantle izzet guildmage combo deck making use of Biomancer's Familiar as extra Training Grounds .

Hi, tappedout won't let me comment on the deck so I'll do it here. It seems like a really cool idea, and the deck seems to run well, however, manamorphose seems to do very little for the deck, so I would suggest replacing it. My personal pick would be Delver of Secrets  Flip, but something like Faithless Looting or Serum Visions would probably work as well, or maybe even Arclight Phoenix . Also, I would suggest swapping the Misty Rainforest s for 1 Sacred Foundry and 1 Sulfur Falls . Hope this helps, and good luck.
