Aura Hexproof Finishing Help

Modern Deck Help forum

I'm redoing my bogles (aura Hexproof) deck and have just a quick question.

I do not have Horizon Canopy and will not be able to come by any soon. Should I just replace these with Brushland, or should I simply put in some basics instead?

Also...I have my deck fully updated but have one open sideboard card. I think I have most decks covered that I should have covered, and my meta is pretty balanced but leans towards more aggro decks; however, I cannot decide what to fill the last spot with. Right now I'm deciding between another Nature's Claim, a Spirit Link, or a Stony Silence. I know a lot of people like Stony Silence but I already run 3 Suspension Fields since it covers more decks. I don't have much for burn other than the main board so that's where Spirit Link comes in. And you can never have enough protection from Spellskite as far as Nature's Claim goes.

Here is the deck list:

Frankly, Canopy is there for the late game draw. You could try Sunpetal Grove but there aren't many sac draw lands.

The key to canopy is the card draw without this you lose something essential.

Brushland is fine. You're playing an aggro deck that aims to win in 4-5 turns, so paying life for mana is no big deal. And even if it were, some of your auras have lifelink anyway.

They don't use Canopy for W/G mana, that just happens to be a plus. It's strictly used to draw cards once you empty your hand.

Yeah, I figured it was mainly in there for the draw. So without the draw it wouldn't be worth it and I should not play Brushlands in their place?

You could try Curiosity or something. With fetchlands going into 3 colours for a single splash of U should be ok. Just don't overdo it.

That's true, but the OP was very clear about not being able to pick up Horizon Canopy anytime soon. And between a playset of Brushland and just 4 more basics, a Bogles deck will always want the former, due to the need to have green mana available on T1 and double white on T3.

ChiefBell: you don't even need to splash for Curiosity. Keen Sense does the job. Still doesn't compare to simply pitching a land for a card in a deck that only needs 2 anyway.

I am already running 2 Keen Senses...thought about 4 like Duke Reid did 4 years ago but decided I would do a 2-2 split between Keen Sense and Spirit Mantle. So I feel a little bit better about the draw. I'm mostly worried about turn turn 1 creature and turn 3 Daybreak Coronet. I also run 7 fetch lands for reference.

Being worried about turn 1 bogle and turn 3 Coronet is exactly why you should play Brushlands. It's a dual land, it doesn't ETB tapped, it doesn't need other lands to produce mana in both colors. Any land that meets these requirements has a place in your deck (unless there's a strictly better version of it, but said version isn't available to you, so stick to the next best thing).

Just out of curiosity, you're already running 4x Razorverge Thicket, right? If not, forget about the Brushlands for the time being and go after those.

oh yeah, square711, I am. Thanks for the help!

Just play Brushland. It's fine. Just know that you will be missing some consistency.

Fourth Path, easy.

Yeah, the more Path to Exile, the better. Some people even mainboard them. If you can't add a fourth one, add a second Nature's Claim to your SB. Leyline of Sanctity and Suppression Field are all you need for the Burn and Affinity matchups, respectively.

Yeah I chose not to mainboard them for more of an all in approach. Those are the decks that seem to be winning the grand prixs more.
