Getting back into MTG w/ Modern Mono White Artifact Deck

Modern Deck Help forum

I've been out of MTG for so long I may well be new, though I do know the rules of the game fairly well. I've decided to jump back in to give me something to do when my other gaming groups fall through or end up with an odd number. I've decided to run Modern due it's commonality where I play. Anyway I was mashing the random button on a card viewer until it spun around to something I felt I could build a deck around. That ended up being Auriok Glaivemaster and various deathtouch granting artifacts like Basilisk Collar, Gorgon's Head or Gorgon Flail. The rest of the deck would be built around copying the first strike and deathtouch combo to other creatures mainly with a surplus of deathtouch granting artifacts and Archetype of Courage. The deck would be rounded out with supporting creatures, spells and other artifacts which could power or benefit from metalcraft. Things like Puresteel Paladin to make equipping easier and to cycle the deck to pull other key cards, Indomitable Archangel to protect the artifacts I have on the field, Kuldotha Forgemaster to swap extra equipment for more important artifacts, Elixir of Immortality for reclamation, Dispatch for removal, Judge's Familiar for some counter shenanigans. It's kind of a half-baked idea, but it's where I'm starting from. Is what I have worth building on or should I scrap it for something else?

It's probably too hanky to be very competitive, but it looks like a blast to play. You'll want Path to Exile for sure

I've been tinkering around with the concept for a bit. White Combo Artifact Toolbox is what I got. From just play testing through the base combo pulls through more often than not by turn 5ish and I have a couple of first striking deathtouchers along with some supporting creatures and artifacts. A decent amount of luck has a Kuldotha Forgemaster out to turn some of the Gold Myr and extra artifacts into more situational useful ones or I might just have what I need in my hand.

If you're going to go heavy white artifacts I really recommend going 2 color.

: Boros Charm - Makes all things indestructible blanking a Tarmogoyf for a turn and keeping something like Sword of Feast and Famine from getting blown up by Abrupt Decay.

: Counters if you want, Spellskite and Serum Visions. Serum is really expensive but it's important to be able to filter to swords if you have a Puresteel Paladin on the field, or to a Puresteel Paladin if you have a sword in your hand. Especially because combined this makes a great engine for Elixir of Immortality and you need metal craft for Dispatch.

Also If you are trying to have enough artifacts for Metalcraft on Puresteel Paladin and Dispatch I recommend some Origin Spellbombs and if you do that, might as well use Steel Overseer.

Oh one other thing, do not use Kuldotha Forgemaster. You never want to have to trade 3 things, plus the slot of Forgemaster to get 1 thing which may immediately die to Abrupt Decay, Path to Exile, Ancient Grudge or Destructive Revelry before you get a chance to use it. Really Forgemaster is to slow right now.

First off thanks to everyone for their advise. I took some ignored others also went and did more digging around for ideas. Ditched the Kuldotha Forgemasters and the Darksteel Colossus in favor for some other artifacts, cut down on the equipment and equipment enablers as this isn't turning out to be an equipment deck. Did some other stuff too, but it's hard to keep track of every change. I do want to keep this mono color for some reason, though going u/w does look quite appealing. Further comments or ideas are very welcome. Deck link for redundancy - White Combo Artifact Toolbox
