is Miracles dead?

Modern Deck Help forum

Hello, I was wondering if some experienced modern control players would like to talk about the current state of the Miracles deck after the mystic sanctuary banning. I really want to buy this in paper, but idk if it's the right investment, considering the current situation. Feel free to comment, or suggest:-) thanks in advance https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/uw-miracles-post-mystic-sanctuary-ban/

Yeah, can't really see a good reason to go into it over conventional UWx control without Sanctuary. Makes it clunky for not much reliable return; control benefits from less variance, but without Sanctuary, miracles gets more.

I agree with Grubbernaut... However I looked at your decklist and think it is certainly playable and will win games... JTMS + Miracles will always be playable in a Turn 4 format as Modern is intended to be.

Basically what I'm getting at is that unless you are truly aiming for top tier gameplay I would still buy that decklist in paper if that was a playstyle you enjoyed playing... worst case scenario you just invested in a core shell for control that you can upgrade for more competitive play.

The deck slug has been reset. You can find the deck under discussion here: UW MIRACLES (post mystic sanctuary ban).

Grubbernaut thank you for you comment:-) Icbrgr Thank you as well. It's really sad to see mystic sanctuary go as I just recently dove into the miracles deck and started buying my missing pieces in paper. Azorius control is definitely my fav archetype, so I really want to try out as many variations of the deck as possible, until I have a decent modern post-ban control deck, because that's just what I want to play. If you don't mind I'd like your (and honestly whoever reads this) opinion on which deck seems more "competetive" in the modern meta. https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/uw-miracles-post-mystic-sanctuary-ban/ OR https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/azorius-control-back-up/?cb=1614378872 . Thanks in advance:-) MagicMarc Thank you for the correction:-)

I liked the list I upvoted more/most personally.

Heck with JTMS why not even try Counterbalance and Ensnaring Bridge / Chalice of the Void .... maybe splash red for Blood Moon and you have something quite rage inducing.

Icbrgr So do I, miracles just seems like a fun deck to play. As for the counterbalance, I think there's no place for this card in modern, considering there is no brainstorm like card, and as we said, mystic sanctuary got banned, so no shenanigans there either:-/ omen of the sea is as close as we can get to some sort of synergy, but it just doesn't seem enough. So yeah, agreed, miracles it is, but without the counterbalance.
