Low CMC Splinter Twin Help

Splinter-Twin

I don't want to run Cryptic Command due to its four mana CMC and I'd like to have mostly 1 mana counterspells. Not high on Snapcaster Mage because he's at least a 3 mana investment, so I only run 2. I'm wondering what things I could do to improve this deck. I'm thinking about cutting a land or 2 for Peek. What do you guys think?
