Luminarch Acsension & Liliana's Caress... is there potential here?

I have been tinkering with a Mono white Turbofog brew on and off for quite a bit and have seen it perform extremely well from time to time but I am looking to spice it up a bit and give it a means to combat combo decks....without adding/splashing .

As it stands the deck wins via clearing the board and then pooping out Angels to win when possible with Luminarch Ascension... and now and then hardcast Emrakul, the Aeons Torn which is far more gimmicky than actually practical...

what i am wondering... is if anyone has any thoughts/advise on perhaps adding/splashing to have access to Thoughtseize/Duress with perhaps a discard engine like Necrogen Mists to have harassment over the hand and perhaps capitalizing on the draw engines of Howling Mine/Temple Bell with having a punishing effect like Liliana's Caress/Megrim..... does this seem like a neat idea or am i falling into a trap of trying to make my deck do too many things at once?

I played around with Liliana's Caress effects in a Modren setting and really tried to make that card work. Liliana's Caress does nothing on its own and demands a lot of support to function properly. It's a dead play when you drop it on turn 2; then you need to have forced discard in hand, or mediocre creatures like Hypnotic Specter; then you need to make sure they actually have cards in hand.

Ultimately, this is a deck I optimized and optimized. Right up to the point where I optimized Liliana's Caress right out of the deck and realized I had accidentally recreated 8-Rack.

hahaha i feel like i too have done that in the past cdkime! TBH The Rack was the First idea i had but thought that Howling Mine would fight against it too much... so i figured perhaps this would be more of a job for Megrim/Waste Not... benefiting/punishing discard over trying to keep a hand empty and abusing Isochron Scepter to keep my "Fog" ready.... more or less put the opponent in a "Use it or lose it" position.

would you say that is i were to follow through with cutting some fogs in favor of splashing for discard effects that i should just avoid those enchantments (Liliana's Caress/Megrim/Waste Not) altogether?

come to think of it this would theoretically sorta play like an elaborate/convoluted version of 8-rack.....with Turbofog basically acting as Ensnaring Bridge...and isntead of winning through Shrieking Affliction it would be through Luminarch Ascension/Liliana's Caress......maybe this isnt that great of an idea lol

The best use for Liliana's Caress is as a sideboard card against Hollow One.

Given the large percentage of your lands being coloreless, I think you need to stay in White. Being able to hit those fog effects early is important, particularly against hyper-aggro decks, so I do not think you can afford to risk a lack of . While you could run Godless Shrine and its ilk to prevent mana screw, then you would be completely blown out of the water by Blood Moon.

Combined with how incredibly mediocre those enchantments are, the risk vastly outweighs the rewards.

sorry im late to the party fellas!

I played with this idea in standard a few years ago using Waste Not and Master of the Feast. its janky and inconsistent, but i could see some modern tech making it more feasible.

anyway, idk if you still have any intention of pursuing this, but its a fun style to brew with, and i'd be happy to lend a hand if you still wanna go down this road

Overall I think I am abandoning this plan... but for giggles I would be interested to see how you would approach this lithium142.

lol, if it's not something you're actively pursuing, i'll be completely honest, you'll probably get a message with a decklist like 3 months from now XD

that said, i am looking at cards, so maybe im feeling ambitious
