i really like mentor and i think the most fun to play him in modern would be with some kind of storm or cascade thing going on where for casting spells he gets the pump and the tokens several times over, I've looked into it and have not really found any similar builds, can anyone link me to one? if not ill look up a storm primer and come back with a home-brew. what are your thoughts on the idea?
i was almost thinking going actual jeskai with it putting in a few young pyros some mana leaks gitaxian probes a few ritual type spells grape shot and then cheap utility like lightning bolts which can stack with your storm stuff either finish it off with grapeshot or some cray cray token action

maybe put in a Sword of Feast and Famine or two for post combat mana untap to make more stuff lol

You don't really have the luxury of building a storm deck with a 3 drop creature in mind. You could do jeskai burn though.

The only color combinations in jeskai colors are Ardent Plea and Stormcaller's Boon. The plea kind of goes against the token generator, but the boon might work out well due to the fact that it gives them flying. You might just have to test it out before finalizing it though.

If you go Naya token based, you can always use Violent Outburst. It's actually fitting.

maybe storm esque is more the term I'm looking for then i want the storm mechanic for the prowess and token triggers not necessarily a traditional storm deck the reoccurrence of spells just makes mentor, swiftspear and young pyro really good i think, is there a better term for storm esque? any advice?

It's budget and so far is working good but needs some tweaks. For your version I would try to put in some ways to protect Mentor once he hits the table with countermagic for sweeps and Protection from X spells for spot removal.

I think it would do well, I'm just not sure what color combination you are looking for. Naya? Esper? Or just 5 color chaos?
