Modern Deck Help forum

I run a fairly budget junk list (meaning no goyf or lili) and my local meta consists mostly of different derivations of delver and twin so I decided that Night of Souls' Betrayal was a good sideboard option. But I am wondering if Curse of Death's Hold would be better. The only thing Night blanks in my deck is Birds of Paradise and Lingering Souls so I am wondering if the extra mana is worth it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Well, I would advise neither. It does not stop delver, since it is bigger, nor does it stop twin, since they can beat down without the combo. Your best bets for beathing both are Abrupt Decay and Path to Exile, which you should be running already.

If they're on the play, CDH gives twin 5 turns to combo off, NSB only gives them 4, so I guess it depends on how quickly they can go off in your meta as to whether you can afford the extra turn. Similarly if the Delver is quick enough to get you by turn 5 then CDH isn't gonna cut it. I presume you've got bigger threats for the late game so losing the Birds and Spirit tokens shouldn't be too much of an issue; you could even side Lingering Souls out for the NSB if necessary.

@Boza

UR Twin cannot win through a Night of Souls' Betrayal if it stays in play. Green and black splashes can, however.

I'd play the Curse. You have enough X/1s that NoSB really does hurt you.
