Aegis vs. Ballyrush

Hello, hepcats.

This isn't a deck-help, just more of a preference question - The deck stuff below is just for background.

Dig: I'm trying to make a white weenie soldier tribal deck. Basically I try to get as many soldiers out as possible, then pump them with, say, Captain of the Watch or Field Marshall or what have you, then swing for the kill with Odric, Master Tactician or Brave the Elements . It's a leeetle bit more of a casual deck than a competitive one, but I'd like to be able to bring it to my local shop's Modern nights if I'm bored.

Long story short, I've got enough room for another two-drop soldier. I'm stuck between Aegis of the Gods and Ballyrush Banneret . Hexproofing myself sounds great, but cheapening the casting cost of some of my tougher solders is definitely a plus. Obviously some sideboarding will take care of the issue, but I'm trying to figure out which one is more mainboard-worthy.

So I come to you for an answer, dear readers, off the record, on the QT, and very hush-hush.

tl;dr - Which is better for white soldier tribal: Aegis of the Gods or Ballyrush Banneret

Ballyrush Banneret always. Aegis of the Gods is a sideboard card against discard and burn, mostly. If it were me, I would take Ballyrush Banneret as cheaper soldiers allows you to keep mana open for instants or activated abilities...or just more soldiers.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking, but 2nd opinions always help.

Rather than considering them on power level, where it's probably hard to compare, you should think about how each helps the plan of your deck. Making your soldiers cheaper helps you beat down faster - that seems good. Making yourself hexproof protects you against ... burn? discard? If your opponents are casting burn at your face when you've got guys in play, that's a win. If your opponent is casting discard post-board then you're probably playing pox, and enough of their discard doesn't target it's not really helping you out there either.

In soldier tribal it is no question go Ballyrush Banneret

I would recommend Aegis of the Gods for sideboard though
