I see no reason to try to get into a format that bans cards while i try to build that deck waste of time waste of money MMA2 will probably be a disappointment too.....whatever ill stick to standard and stuff PJSalt

And so it starts.

I can see how the bannings hit the Pod players the hardest. All the Cruise/Dig decks can work around the banning, but you Pod people are suffering. Good luck in Standard, my friend. Hopefully you will come back someday.

Shit yeah it hit them the hardest they don't have a deck to play anymore.

Lol thanks i hadnt built the whole deck yet i still needed some bulk but i got a couple pods and voices and things that just arent going to be useful or worth much it happens tho

There's a fairly successful "4-color Everything" deck roaming around that I don't believe plays Pod. It simply plays a midrange strategy with a bunch of strong cards. Take out the Melira//Kiki Pod combo, replace those pieces with strong midrange cards, and just play your deck.

Yeah the Pod ban came as a surprise, though I'm more surprised that Cruise got restricted in Vintage. I figured that even as Recall #2-5 it wasn't that broken.

But hey, use your Pods to play some Legacy. Pod decks are good there, especially with Cruise gone

I mean, isn't it kinda the same with standard, just far more predictable, but also inevitable? Almost all those great cards are guaranteed to drop as soon as they rotate out, and unless you want to trade them quite some time before rotation and then stop playing till after it, your cards won't retain their value.

It is my personal opinion that you should play magic because you enjoy it, not so much as an investment, because trying to do both will generally leave you stuck between a rock and a hard place. If you think about it in terms of an investment, you're probably not gonna enjoy it and seriously limit your options.

There's always EDH though, which is rising in popularity and actually seeing some play as FNM nowadays.

I was totally finished with my Melira Pod and I'm really pissed at the banning especially because it's pretty hard to afford losing $500 on a deck when it becomes no longer playable. Also Wizards made it so all of the good decks are either really expensive, Splinter Twin, or inconsistent combo. Pod was really cheap compared to BGx

Necrotize there is a reason this is called a Collectible Card Game - people like to collect the cards. Hell, I got a Contract from Below from my store's 50 cent bargain bin just to say "I have a card that would be more broken than the power nine combined if ante was still around!" And of course, part of the collection aspect is the trading aspect, and it's hard to trade your cards when your collection is devalued.

Don't get me wrong, I love playing the game (in fact, that's why my favorite format right now is draft, just to get a variety of gameplay and always face something new), but the collecting aspect is certainly fun too.

Necrotize i do play because i enjoy it but thats the thing they are getting rid of the deck i enjoyed playing and anything i would want to play is too expensive im not saying im quiting because i lost money i lost money and cant play what i want so....there's nothing left

OpenFire Wizards has nothing to do with card prices except for reprints, so modern decks being expensive isn't their fault.

Bod decks minus pod still work as midrange abzan decks. Trade your singletons for more of the other stuff. Don't want to use goyf? Don't. Use something else instead like anafenza or doran!

Necrotize People should be playing for fun, but unfortunately any tournament setting whether it be magic or sports, requires an investment. If you were to invest in WoTC and everyone simultaneously quit magic, and the stock plummeted, you're likely to jump off a bridge if you had enough invested.

Pod isn't a thing anymore, but efficiently costed creatures (you know, the other 56 cards in the deck) still are. No reason you can't pivot to something else.

Tawny the deck doesnt work the same with the same creatures andj ust playing 4ofs and hardcasting them cheating them in was card advantage and a way to get around counters

January 19, 2015 5:22 p.m.

Named_Tawyny says... #20

Yeah, I know that, EmblemMan. I'm just pointing out that there are other things you can do with the cards from a Pod deck. Pod is dead, but that doesn't mean that the rest of the deck is worthless for its parts.

January 19, 2015 5:36 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #21

The thing is a lot of pod decks ARE worthless without pod. You have a few siege rhino and a few abrupt decay. Looks like going GB is viable but then you need 4 goyf which is like $800.......

Pod always played cards most other decks didn't want.

I liked the Pod archetype and don't feel it was oppressive. Sure it evolves as time goes on but so do other archetypes. Not to mention that for every card u add u have to take one away.

Perhaps we shall see a new AEther Vial or Maralen of the Mornsong deck emerge...

I cannot feel sympathy for decks that make Orzhov Pontiff cost like 15 bucks when they play it as a 1-of fetch target!!!

ANyways, tell it to the Eggs players, the storm players, the Jund players (especially the Jund players), all the combo players, etc.If you can adapt to standard metagame changing every year, you can adapt to a ban without the need to call the wambulance.
