Articles you'd like to see in Modern?
Modern forum

I've been thinking about asking permission to write an article series about something to do with Modern lately, which has been inspired by the Leafs_suck tribal series which I'm a big fan of. While he's finishing up that, are there any other articles revolving the Modern format you would like to see? I'm a big fan of the format and I just don't see much about it; standard gets all the glory.
Now those would make some good articles. Out of the three which would you want to see the most?

how to play Jund and how to properly make changes when expecting meta shifts.
How having Scavenging Ooze in modern will effect the format's top decks.
How would Modern look if Jace, the Mind Sculptor was unbanned.
How you won a PTQ, GP, or PT with a rogue deck.

Haha, well those sound like interesting topics to write about, but I was hoping for a more in general article topics that a lot of Modern players would be interested in.

i don't know. MTG_Player's advice sounds a lot like ducttapedeckbox's series bang for your buck but its focused on standard. maybe you could ask him for some advice and start the same thing but for modern instead?

oh. how are Leafs_suck's articles coming along? haven't seen them in awhile

how about you write about how Bant is not getting the love it deserves in current meta and that everyone is suckling the teat of Pod and Jund.
Im not biased at all ;), ;)

They're in the pipeline. I have a Fearies deck lined up and I'm halfway done another, but I've been busy IRL way too much. I've been running 2 games stores instead of 1 and playing soccer and giving my gf the time she deserves so not much time for MTG. I'm also drafting in Caley's DDD so I'm trying as hard as I can to get stuff done.
On the way! Promise!

I'd like to see articles on rouge modern decks personally. I've always like those kinds and how they work and how they do in competitive play.

A word on Rogue decks: Living End is now a major player, so do not count it as a "rogue" deck. Something like a Mystical Teachings deck would be an example of one; since it's a toolbox deck, it is really powerful if you can predict the metagame, which is conveniently very possible with MTGO due to the Daily Decklists articles on MTGO.

I personally think number 2 would be baller. REALLY helps the newer people coming to Modern

If I have the time I may end up doing all three choices that MTG_Player suggested. I think the2nd and the 3rd option I could knock out in just one article a piece, and I could do a series of articles about the 1st. Also, I think I'll borrow (steal) Leafs_suck's idea of dueling types of decks against each other. I think I'll just ask who wants their deck featured against each other and I'll duel them as such. This way I could test out decks like eggs against jund and things like that. I would need to get used to the decks though, so I think this would take me the longest out of all the articles.

Well, personally 2 seems easy and could be in addition to a full article, but yeah any of the choices are viable, I personally like #1 as an explanation to beginners. Ooh and I always wondered what modern would be like without the banlist aka (turn 1 infect, jtms, combo), could you make an article series about how the format and prices would change and the decks you believe would dominate?
Or you could make an article about why their is a banlist

Haha so many things to write about. I'll do my best to include all of that eventually. I have a lot of free time (for now), but I want to get used to learning how to format an getting a rough draft of what I want the articles to look like before I start posting them on the site, so it may be a few weeks for me to get them on here. In the meantime I'll keep track of all of your thoughts and eventually incorporate them into articles. And I'll probably mess up somewhere down the line, but I have you lot to keep me in check when I do mess up haha.

Write an article on how different color/color combo decks play in Modern and how effective they are. For example, how well a Jund deck might play against a U/W deck. Talk about cards that are staples for different colors.
Write an article on what makes a good competitive Modern deck and how it's better than a Modern deck that might seem good in theory, but is better fitted for casual play.
Would give players who are new to Modern different perspectives and ideas. I know I would certainly benefit from this :)

Well MTG_Player and everyone else I decided to upload something I've been meaning to for a while so enjoy and chime in as well. Without further ado I give you my:

1 and 2 kind of go together. Why not write about both at first, then move on to budget decks (3)?
June 24, 2013 8:27 p.m.
Yeah, you're right. I'll make an article that will combine both and then move on to my other Articles.

If by rogue you mean the tribal type, then Dimir Gone Rogue isn't going to win a Grand Prix, but with the help of competitive staples it could go decently well.

I have three ideas:
An explanation of each archetype (standard, aggro, midrange, control, comobo, hate-bear) with a deck that fits each description, and an explanation of game play?
A list of all the staples for each archetype (burn, countering, life-gain, creatures).
A guide to playing <$200 decks in the format (a budget primer).
