What do y'all think about Assault Formation in modern?

In a dedicated Doran, the Siege Tower deck, it may be a 2 or 3 of.

Or, you can run 4 dorans and not bother with formations. In formats where doran is allowed, there is no reason to play this card.

Yes there is, because doran is within range of path, decay and dismember. You should definitely run both because if one goes, you can get terribly screwed.

While the 'use Doran instead' arguement has merit, personally I think it would work fine for someone who wants to run that type of deck without necessarily running Junk/Abzan colors.. Also I think it's worth noting that as an Enchantment--it's harder to remove, and at costing --it comes out a turn sooner & is less mana-greedy.. But more importantly it gives eager brewers a chance to fart around with making G/x Defenders a thing.. I don't even run Green, but I'm eager to see what said people come up with.. :)

Seems pretty cool with an Overgrown Battlement and Axebane Guardian thing...

I like it as a 2-of in Doran decks. It has the advantage of boosting only your creatures, but it's not searchable with your harbingers. It lets your siege rhinos and goyfs win the fights, which makes it more powerful than doran, but it doesn't attack. And honestly, the gimmicky Doran decks have never done particularly well. (Who knows, Dorans 9-10 may be what the deck needed)

I think it might have a spot in rug-twin with skite, exarch and goyfs. Helps secure the combo or just gives a solid beatdown plan to run next to the combo.
