Aven Mindcensor in Modern
Modern forum

With the banning of Birthing Pod in Modern, I'm unsure how good Aven Mindcensor is in modern. It still has utility versus Scapeshift and some other cards like Gifts Ungiven, but I don't know if that is enough.
I basically have 2 questions -
Is Aven Mindcensor worth the 2 SB slots in my UWR deck?
What do you think about the price of Aven Mindcensor? I feel that it may be reprinted in MM2, so is now a good time to trade them off?
Thanks in advance!
That's true, but I'm still not sure if that justifies it's inclusion.

Now's a great time to trade them off, mostly for reasons that you listed.

It hits RG Tron a bit. It hits U-Tron pretty hard too.

I think Mindcensor will be more valuable now that Pod is gone. You are going to see more of scapeshift and gifts, plus other strategies that Mindcensor is good vs.

at any rate if you're trading yours I'll gladly take 2 off your hands.

It's a Stifle on a 2/1 flying body. The card is still really good, just a bit more niche. I think anyone playing white aggro, midrange, or hatebear variants is going to want 2 to 3 somewhere in their 75.

Have you ever played against a hatebears deck running Mindcensor (and Leonin Arbiter), Ghost Quarter and Life from the Loam? Or had them flash in a Mindcensor in response to a fetch and then proceed to gleefully destroy your manabase until you rage quit? On a scale of one to ten, with one being "meh" and ten being "best.day.ever.", with five being a "well it's got better moves than Left Shark so I guess it'll do"..... it's one of those kinda things that'll make you understand why someone would flip a table. Like seriously.

I'd play one, maximum. It's great against Scapeshift and Tron like you said, but otherwise is rather mediocre. Having access to it is good in a more burn-oriented Jeskai deck.

I haven't had time to play hatebears since treasure cruise was printed but I believe that 1-2 is the correct number for GW hatebears. It sures up the kinda awkward matchup that is scapeshift and is a good value creatures. It is not very good in multiples so I don't reccomend more than 2 because having the secrond does straight nothing unless the first dies.

Shadow of Doubt is far better at sniping fetches, as it's on colour, can be Snapcaster Mage'd, and cantrips. Still use 1 Mindcensor, though.
