Sauce

Good riddance.

Sword is interesting, and I'm very excited about Ancestral Vision. Price hike incoming (I guess it already started)...

It's sold out on TCG

Praise be to Aaron Forsythe for not banning Temple too and somewhat saving Modern Eldrazi!

Its neat I suppose I mean I play tron so eye being banned kinda sucks but its not the end of the world and its for the better. Sword I honestly dont care much for visions seems a bit much I really wanted Bloodbraid Elf with it but idk thats just me

UNGH! Bought my set of Ancestral Vision for 65 tix just in time. #whitelisted

rothgar13 says... #8

Welcome back, Jeskai Control! They just took out Tron's inevitability, pumped the brakes on the Eldrazi deck's speed, and they gave it quality card draw as icing. Huge announcement for decks in general, but particularly for that one.

April 4, 2016 11:03 a.m.

I'm brewing around Sword of the Meek already. :D

April 4, 2016 11:04 a.m.

VampireArmy says... #10

I mean i guess tron can use Sanctum of Ugin. Not nearly as powerful but it's likely the next best thing.

April 4, 2016 11:07 a.m.

I'm so hyped right now. I bet Ancestral Vision will see an Eternal Masters reprint. Weakened tron makes me very happy. Sword of the meek dies to artifact hate so I'm fine with that.

I just hope Snapcaster Mage doesn't spike as blue decks see play. I need that card.

April 4, 2016 11:24 a.m.

So get this. Assault Formation Infect with Sword of the Meek. I so want this to be a thing.

Has anyone seen CanadianShinobi? Have they recovered from their joy yet at Visions getting unbanned?

April 4, 2016 11:29 a.m.

JWiley129: But Sword of the Meek was also unbanned. That means I can build Tezzerator now also. Joy upon joy.

April 4, 2016 11:31 a.m.

smackjack says... #16

Ancestral Vision is nice :D. Is it out of place here: Kiki-Kontrol? I took out 1x Wall of Omens, 1x Remand and 1x Sphinx's Revelation

April 4, 2016 11:31 a.m.

sergiodelrio says... #17

Maybe with Ancestral Vision in the meta, people will start playing Redirect, Imp's Mischief or Swerve, just to make people cry xD

April 4, 2016 11:35 a.m. Edited.

JWiley129 says... #18

CanadianShinobi - To be honest, I'm not sure Control will get to where you want it to be quite yet. The metagame is currently unknown, and historically control decks do poorly in unknown metagames. Unbanning Ancestral Vision certainly helps the cause, but I still feel like it's a very slow card in a format with Glistener Elf, Elvish Archdruid, and Grapeshot.

April 4, 2016 11:37 a.m.

Dhominus says... #19

Bye bye Sphinx's Revelation! Jeskai Control might get well positioned now. Let's see if it works. I'm gonna try 3 of them, probably.

April 4, 2016 11:41 a.m.

DarkLaw says... #20

I don't know, Ancestral Vision would now be a prime target for a reprint in Eternal Masters... If they predicted unbanning it. We're talking about a set that was probably finished around October 2015. Of course, if they did, or they just put it in the set anyway because it's good in cubes and sees Eternal play, someone knock me out until June.

April 4, 2016 11:41 a.m.

JWiley129 you're probably right... But it still pleases me to no end. I'm not expecting Control to suddenly become tier 1, but I'd like to see some Draw-Go Control actually start showing up again.

April 4, 2016 11:43 a.m. Edited.

DrFunk27 says... #22

CanadianShinobi Sword is already in my Tezzerator deck with Thopter Foundry. HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!

April 4, 2016 11:43 a.m.

JWiley129 says... #23

CanadianShinobi - Oh yeah, go nuts! I'm glad I got my one copy not too long ago. I don't envision myself playing the card anytime soon. Hopefully the card will deflate from it's egregious price that it's at now.

April 4, 2016 11:45 a.m.

See, this unbanning actually gives me a desire to play Modern again. I've been sorta standing on the sidelines just watching it. Even if I could make a Draw-Go deck that is Tier 2 I'd be content to play the format again.

April 4, 2016 11:53 a.m.

Spootyone says... #25

Heh... I can't wait to eat up all your Ancestral Vision with my Wasteland Strangler >:) Goodbye gw hate bears, hello BW hate bears!

April 4, 2016 11:58 a.m.

KillDatBUG says... #26

Spootyone

Unless you're planning on having Wasteland Strangler kill itself, it doesn't seem very likely against control.

I'm so FREAKING EXCITED TO PLAY MODERN TEZZERATOR.

April 4, 2016 12:19 p.m.

-Logician says... #30

Such an exciting day for Modern!

Eldrazis are still okay to play. They didn't completely destroy the deck, so thought-knot seer won't take TOO big of a hit. Visions insta-hyped up to $60, but will quickly fall back down when people realize that it isn't worth that much. Perhaps it will settle at $30 until it gets reprinted in Eternal Masters. Sword is such a nice touch. One of the biggest complaints in modern that I've been hearing lately has been all of these uninteractive decks, and now people are going to be enticed into playing Tezzeret and a thopter sword combo that works well, but still requires you to attack, block, and grind your way to a victory.

Today, Modern has become a slightly better format.

April 4, 2016 12:51 p.m.

Servo_Token says... #31

I have literally been waiting for the day that I get to play modern thopter sword for two years... This is awesome

April 4, 2016 12:52 p.m.

kanokarob says... #32

What are we thinking will replace the eye in tron decks? Sanctum of Ugin was brought up but I don't think that's going to be very effective at all due to its search being reliant on casting one of its search targets anyway; doesn't provide inevitably like the eye. Obviously we won't have something as good replacing it, but it still needs to substitute somewhat well.

April 4, 2016 1:23 p.m.

They probably won't run anything instead.

Better question: how good will tron be against decks playing Ancestral Vision and Sword of the Meek? I am convinced Tron will start playing Emrakul, the Aeons Torn again to combat control decks. Karn Liberated against Tezzeret or Weaponized Lantern Control sounds like it favors the Tron player to me, although I might be wrong.

I just want tron to disappear since it's such a bad matchup for me.

April 4, 2016 1:28 p.m.

kanokarob says... #34

Uh, they have to replace it with something. Or it'll be a 59 card deck XD

April 4, 2016 1:55 p.m.

DuTogira says... #35

Oh great, now I have to spend the next month re-tuning my home brew.

I'm really hyped, in case the sarcasm of my prior statement was obscure.

April 4, 2016 3:12 p.m.

DuTogira the worst part for your deck is that with Sword of the Meek unbanned, there will be a lot more artifact hate running around.

April 4, 2016 3:17 p.m. Edited.

rothgar13 says... #37

Yep, the 4 Hurkyl's Recall in my sideboard have never looked better.

April 4, 2016 3:23 p.m.

DuTogira says... #38

Eh, I can handle the artifact hate. Chuck a Kira, Great Glass-Spinner in the sideboard.
Gotta test visions against recall now though. And re-evaluate match-ups once the meta solidifies. Might need skites over superiors main board now.
Money money money. curse you WotC!

April 4, 2016 3:24 p.m.

DuTogira Although I agree with the money complaint, I must say that this ban list change is one of the best things Wizards has ever done for mtg. Today is a glorious day.

April 4, 2016 3:35 p.m.

DuTogira says... #40

Oh I completely agree. I'm in an ironic pessimist mood today though :P

April 4, 2016 3:43 p.m.

Definitely kicking myself in the ass today. Had the opportunity to pick up some Visions this weekend at $20/each and passed because I didn't need them, forgetting about today's announcement and possible unbanning

Scouty says... #44

TheDevicer same, dude. I've been working on a BUG thopter sword list for awhile now, and seeing this happen ensures that I'm gonna try it out.

I didn't expect the Vision unban though. That's a nice surprise

April 4, 2016 5:09 p.m.

addaff says... #45

It's nice to see Ancestral Vision be unbanned and the price spike. Guess it's time to take the 3 that I own out of my casual decks, lol.

April 4, 2016 5:36 p.m.

saj0219 says... #46

Might be the wrong thread, but does Ancestral Vision mean Serum Visions drops in price a bit as its not the only reasonable blue draw spell (slight exaggeration there, but...)?

April 4, 2016 5:52 p.m.

DarkLaw says... #47

4 color gifts hype.

April 4, 2016 5:56 p.m.

Egann says... #48

If you thought the butt-hurt the Eldrazi put down was bad, you're in for a surprise. I, for one, welcome our new Storm overlords.

I mean, DAMN.

April 4, 2016 6:03 p.m.

nayrash5 says... #49

Yay, my copies of Ancestral Vision and Thopter Foundry gained some value. Though on a more serious note, this has me inspired to deckbuild in Modern again, and this shows a change in banned list policy, hopefully for the better.

April 4, 2016 6:20 p.m.

Egann care to elaborate on that statement? Why would Storm suddenly surge in popularity?
