Brutal Expulsion could be amazing

Hey guys!
I've looked at the thread about it not being a new Cryptic, and that's fair. But I don't know how bad it can actually be. It is a HUGE tempo swing, since it could be a "deal with two creatures" for , but it has some good interactions as well.
It deals with Etched Champion
It actually kills Etched Champion, since it deals 2 damage to it, and expulsion is colorless. If you want, you can also bounce another one with it.
It looks like a serious beating against

.
This one is my biggest point. The card counters Abrupt Decay, since it doesn't actually say the magical word "counter". It also deals 2 damage to Liliana's face, or can deal with a Noble Hierarch, and if its early enough, a goyf. But who am I kidding, goyfs never has less than 3 toughness unless a yard is exiled.
I guess my point is, its a good card against big decks in this format, but the price might not be right. At , its still a very expensive card, but it does deal with stuff in a fast manner. Any thoughts?
It only "kinda" counters Abrupt Decay. Killing Etched Champion is a big deal, but I'm not sold on it quite yet. It could be good for the Twin mirror matches. Bouncing an Exarch in response to Twin could be value.

This thing is a 4 mana remand / shock hybrid thingomabob. It's far too costly and a 4 mana spell doesn't exactly scream tempo. It's a far cry from Vapor Snag. It's not a permanent solution and 2 damage hardly has any reach. I'd like to compare this thing to Kolaghan's Command. There, the shock mode is paired up with other things which can generate you real card advantage and the spell itself costs one fewer mana.

It only kinda kills liliana and kinda kills goyf and kinda kills etched champion and kinda counters abrupt decay. 4 mana is a lot for a card that only kinda does stuff.

Think of it like this. What card would you 100% of the time use instead of this? Cryptic Command. Now, remind yourself that Cryptic Command is seeing less and less play. If this card doesn't do anything better than a card that is seeing a decreasing amount of playtime, then I don't see how it will be in modern.

+1 for the Sherlock reference TheDevicer.
But no, it's basically a worst Cryptic that also needs red. Had it said "permanent" instead of creature and been able to damage a player, it could definitely be up for consideration. But as is, no.

I'm not currently tracking the modern meta, but it seems like it does too little too much of the time for too much mana.

Doesn't do anything. If I want to kill Etched Champion, I'll Shatterstorm. Maindeck, I'll play Cryptic Command.

It doesn't do anything which other cards can't do better. If you want to delay spells, you have Remand, and Venser, Shaper Savant. If you want to exile creature, you have Magma Spray and Path to Exile. If you want to beat affinity, run Stony Silence and Shatterstorm.
Brutal Expulsion doesn't stand out above any other options, and is definitely not any sort of replacement for Cryptic. It's literally just another copy of Ojutai's Command, which is pretty much a dud card in modern.

I was about to say that I'd rather play Venser, Shaper Savant over this and that doesn't even see play.

So, I have it in sideboard of my Grixis Delver deck (it won't be used until Friday, but I don't intend on playing Modern until Friday, so I sleeved it up). I hink its reasonably better than some other cards I have in maindeck against , and it could (keyword could) be good against slower artifact decks that run Etched Champion and help draw out a long game against Grixis Control. Is there as much of an issue with that, or should I be running a different card like Dismember?

Not sure why you're not playing another Kommand. Your Affinity matchup should be very easy regardless, so you should be playing anything except BE.

@GlistenerAgent I was more going for the slow deck perspective, cause affinity looks fine to me. I mean Junk/d, Grixis Control, maybe even control.

Kommand is just better in those matchups. I'm not sure why people want to pay four mana to shock and Repeal/Remand something.

Because it is a cheap new card that looks cool GlistenerAgent. People are always ecstatic when they see a new card become nonstandard constructed playable, thinking "I don't have to use the same boring cards everyone else does!" Pretty much the same line of thinking of "I hate netdecking, netdecking should die."

SwaggyMcSwagglepants "slower artifact decks that run Etched Champion" is that a meta decision? I don't know of any decks like that.

I faintly remember a card called Jilt from the past. It was awesome and a staple in control decks. IT had the befit of versatility. The problem with Expulsion is that it forces you to cast Jilt kicked every single time.
Not modern playable, but definitely in Standard.
