Modern forum

Hello Deck builders. I have been wanting to build an extreme budget deck (< $20) for a long time, but have never had an idea for a theme that would work and be that cheap.

If you guys could help me by giving me an idea for an extreme budget deck, that would be great. Thanks!

They have to be Modern Legal too

Living End without fulminators and a slower land base.

hmm, that sounds fun! I might try that. The only problem is that Living End is $5 each, but i will still give it a try.

Well, it would have to be mono-colored, and probably the best strategy for 20$ is hyper-aggressive, I would suggest some kind of a red deck wins, or green stompy, but I don't have much experience in either of those so I don't have a decklist to show

I honestly couldn't imagine building a deck for less than $20...

RDW is too mainstream, though it would be cheap and easy. How does green stompy work? I have no experience with it either.

seuvius I once built a b/r aggro deck (Ravnica-Theros Standard) on this site sadly i deleted it) that was $14. I can try to recreate it.

TheDevicer What colors would that be? B/G? U/G? what cards would it have?

I'd probably just stick with green. Go Blight Mamba, Glistener Elf, and Ichorclaw Myr as your creatures. Then go with pump spells like Vines of Vastwood, Titanic Growth, Wild Defiance, etc.

I made this for you man. It's a little bit above the limit, but I think it's decent for the price. Budget UWR

CheeseBro says... #14

Its ok if it a bit over the limit. Interesting deck hermesmtz95. Is it like a jeskai control?

hermesmtz95 says... #15

Yeah UWR control. I moved some cards around and I brought it even closer to the price you wanted.

I agree with green stompy

While there are many variations, the basic idea is to use lots of mana dorks like Llanowar Elves, forests, and hyper strong green creatures like Leatherback Baloth.

Mono Blue Merfolk, you could do it for like $150 and win plenty of games.

Although living end costs $5, you generally only run 2 in the deck. Each other card is between 25-50 cents.

Treasure Hunt and Zombie Infestation combo deck. One of the cheapest decks in modern, look it up.

I just recently made a halfway decent affinity build on a $30 budget. Here it is--$30 Affinity

Here is a more casual build around a set of cards. An Empire On A Budget

Here's a fun gruul deck that I have a surprising record with. $25 Budget Gruul Aggro

I promise I'm not trying to advertise my deck like some shameless fool. I hate people who do that. I just thought it was appropriate to show some budget builds given this situation.

I hate to double-post, but here's a fun one I made recently: Howl - $50 budget. I know $50 is a little out of the proposed budget, but this deck is really fun, and uses a really interesting mechanic to win.

The Budget End for reference. Remove the shocks and fetches to drop the price.

A full set of Treasure Hunt. 2x Zombie Infestation. Full set of Reliquary Tower. Fill the rest with islands and swamps. It should run you like $21? Not bad for a deck that is hilarious and decent against other decks

I know how Zombie hunt decks work. They are really fun. I have a seismic assault deck here on tappedout which is like $400 just because of the Mana base. If i replaced it with basics it would be like $20. Here is the seismic assault deck: Epic Land discard Combo!

Here are some other Extreme budget decks i have made here on tapedout today:

B/W Heroic: $20 B/W Heroic Extreme Budget Aggro ($20)

Mono-White Allies: $12 Extreme Budget Mono-White Allies ($12)
