I've done alot of reading on Elf Combo lately as I've been working on one for a bit Elves Elves everywhere!!!! but I am confused. Why is the Cloudstone Curio combo preferred over say the classic Intruder Alarm both combos rely on a non searchable card in elves and with fetches and shocks having a blue splash shouldn't be a problem. Can someone please help me understand this?
Pretty much that and Nettle Sentinel untaps by itself, so you don't have problems with mana and can splash white or black for removal and sideboard options.

But if you mainline the blue using shocks/fetches why is the blue a problem? Not to mention giving access to blue for sideboard? Is it really just Heritage Druid as the reason why?

Blue isn't really all that great for the board, White gives far better answers.

One thing that no-one has mentioned yet is that Cloudstone Curio is just pure value. You can loop cards like Elvish Visionary even if you don't have the combo in order to continue gaining advantage. Intruder Alarm doesn't have that power.
Also blue is decent since you then get Beck and Coiling Oracle. I do prefer the mono- version, but there is a version that does well with blue.

Bouncing your own creatures > not bouncing your own creatures.

Intruder Alarm requires blue mana, and Curio works well because it bounces things. Needing blue mana sucks, and can't be cast off Heritage Druid.
