What is more effective to deal with Artifact decks, Kataki, War's Wage or Stony Silence ?
He asks between Kataki, War's Wage or Stony Silence . Then he probably has a white deck...
I would say Kataki, War's Wage . If it's against Affinity, all those small creatures don't have a chance. But it really depends on which deck you are facing :D

Depends on what kind of artifacts, but Stony Silence . Silence pretty much shuts down stuff. Sure, it's worse against affinity but so much better against tron, pod, etc.
Kataki, War's Wage has quite a few problems.
It's a creature that dies easily.
It's easy to play around.
1 mana a turn against pod is nothing.
Stony Silence can do a lot more like:
Shut down pod.
Shut down O-Stone and many other artifacts from tron.
Make it so affinity is nothing but a bunch of weak vanilla creatures.
and more.
The only reason Kataki might be run is if you can tutor it or you need the 2/1 body.

What are some examples of cards that are tron, pod, and affinity?

Oh, misread the question. Sorry. Stony Silence is better than kataki. Stony Silence shuts down any activated ability including mana abilities. Kataki, War's Wage doesn't actually do much. They actually printed that card to stop the menace called affinity during the first mirrodin block and it didn't do anything.

Birthing Pod (pod), Oblivion Stone (tron), Cranial Plating (affinity). Stony silence shuts them all down. Those are all some of the main cards in each.

Stony Silence turns off most of Tron, actually. Chromatic Sphere , Chromatic Star , Spellskite , Oblivion Stone , Expedition Map , and Relic of Progenitus . If you power out Stony Silence on turn-2 on the play, Tron will be hard-pressed to destroy it before turn-5 or 6 with the only mainboard answers: Karn Liberated and All Is Dust , god-hands notwithstanding.

Yeah I just didn't feel like listing all of those @zandl.

so an activated ability is anything that taps or uses mana to activate?

Stony Silence is far better. Against affinity, say goodbye to Cranial Plating , Darksteel Citadel , Arcbound Ravager , Mox Opal , Springleaf Drum and the occasional Welding Jar or Steel Overseer . Affinity cannot deal with enchantments, but most lists run Galvanic Blast , so Kataki is easy enough to kill. Silence also hits Tron and Pod hard, as has been pointed out.

And to answer your question Red-Skull, activated abilities are always written as "cost: effect". If you see a colon, it's an activated ability.

is there any cards for sideboard against artifact decks that run in the colors of grixis?

Hurkyl's Recall and Shatterstorm do the job pretty well.

In Modern?
Vandalblast , Shattering Spree , Shatterstorm , .... I feel like there may be one or two more, but those are your best bets.

That one.
Let them put everything onto their Ravager and then bounce both it and half their lands to their hand.

In Pod, Kataki, War's Wage is good because it's easily tutorable.
In everything else, Stony Silence FTW

As a long time Affinity player Kitaki brings me much more frustration than Stony Silence ever will. Stony doesn't cover my Signal Pest or Master of Etherium and allows me to just go swarm mode on you and still bring some big beats.
Kitaki immediately puts me on the defensive as far as playing around her is concerned. Since my deck revolves around me throwing my hand out turn 1 or 2 a turn 2 or 3 Kitaki makes me a bit scared. Granted if I have an Arcbound out I could careless to be honest but hey you never know.

As an affinity player, it depends on my hand. Kataki, War's Wage is good against hands with no galvanic blast, but if I have blast, I laugh at your feeble attempt to hate me out. Stony Silence is good against every hand you can have, and makes every creature except Signal Pest and Master of Etherium terrible.
By the way, if you think Hurkyl's Recall is actually good against affinity, you need to realize that it pretty much is just Fog . The deck is explosive enough that it's really not more than a 1-2 turn setback.

Not all artifacts need to be activated to work.
