So now that Deathrite Shaman is banned, what will Jund play in it's place? Bitterblossom ? Or will Jund even be a viable deck anymore?

You can't ask "will Jund be a viable deck" if you understand Jund's principle. Jund is just a pile of advantage generators. It works by getting value out of its plays. No one card makes the deck. Bloodbraid Elf was a staple, and its banning didn't undo the deck. Deathrite Shaman is a staple, and it's banning won't undo the deck.

Jund will have to slow down a little because Deathrite Shaman just offers so much value so early in the game, but the deck will keep going.

Yeah I hate how a bunch of people are thinking Jund is dead because of the banned of one card and its going to lose its Tier 1 status. Jund will live and it will find a replacement soon enough. :P

So what does it play now? Scavenging Ooze seems nice, but it just doesn't get there.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha......breath.......Hahahahahahahahahaha.....awwwwwwwwwww, the Rock is dead....

On a more serious note, Jund and other decks that used Deathrite Shaman needed it gone. It was just too powerful for them. It was like using Delver of Secrets  Flip and Ponder when both were legal.

Brentane rock is not dead, just a turn slower now. Im gunna go with Scavenging Ooze as my replacement for deathrite shaman. it offers mediocre lifegain, can hit for 2+ if it can get through, and provides yard hate for 1 mana. So for those of us rock players who weren't using scooze already, it is seeming like a better option now. I had considered using a mana dork like Birds of Paradise , because one of the serious advantages of DrS was pumping out a lili turn 2. I just wish there was a 1-drop mana dork that did something besides add mana. Bloodhall Ooze seems like a good option for jund though.

Well that helps to some extent, though Jund is far from dead, it's simply too efficient to rely on one card. On a side note, I just checked the price history of Bitterblossom and it has shot through the roof. I have no idea where it will fit into the Modern landscape, someone with more experience will have to explain it to me :p

I'm not convinced Bitterblossom belongs in Jund, the deck is already so suicidal, and DRS was a source of lifegain. I'm thinking Noble Hierarch or Birds of Paradise and then finding room for Kitchen Finks to offset life loss.
