Do you think Virulent Plague will make twin a much worse choice, especially with a meta full of Abzan?

Illness in the ranks both killed Pestermite outright, and made Deceiver Exarch have 0 attack, effectively rendering the combo useless. Virulent Plague is not an upgrade, in that regard.

There is however the new combust which will see a ton of play as an anti-twin card

i feel like combust will be played over the new one b/c it kills dr. Siegeman Rhinoscerous and the new one doesent

Dr. Siegeman R. Hinoceros, 4/5 is a very important card to be able to deal with.

I think combust will be mostly out of the meta because burn won't run it in there side boards. Burn doesn't care about your siege rhino as long as they have skullcrack or soon to be atarkas command to stop the life gain. Other wise burn is mutch happier with rending volley. And the only other highly played deck that runs combust in the side is twin. So inless jund makes a resurgence I don't think combust will be to heavily played.

I just like Roast against junk better because not only does it kill Dr. Siegeman R. Hinoceros, but it also deals with Tazzy "The Tasmanian Devil" Banana Pants, PhD. Rending Volley is better against twin though.

You cant bring combust in against siege rhino decks. It's generally the only target in the deck. The only rhino deck you can bring combust in against is little kid abzan which sees very little play.

@xlaleclx People bring it in. You have to bring it in. There aren't that many ways to kill a Rhino, but that may change with Roast in the SB.

burn shouldn't bring it in. burn is not a removal deck. if your taking out the burn spell that would win u the game for something to kill a rhino and they never draw the rhino you have dead card that should have won u the game.

The only thing Virulent Plague could be SB against is 
Tokens. - And that's only because it would force them to play 2x Intangible Virtue and/or Honor of the Pure before they could even start playing their 1/1 token generators... generally speaking they'll be dead by then.
But still, it's not a Tier 1 deck, and is easily beaten in a number of other ways.

Nobody brings in combust, thats why people started playing Havest Pyre in twin.

Basically, one deck plays Combust, and that's Scapeshift. If you're playing Scapeshift, you're bringing in Combust against Siege Rhino. We can't really play Harvest Pyre.

Illness in the Ranks did everything people needed. Plague is just worse.
