So I decided I wanted to build a R/G Dragon deck that could be somewhat competetive, but mostly fun. So far (and I can't believe I'm saying these words) it has proven to be a decent tempo deck.....in R/G. Wow. So I'm playing Dragonmaster Outcast , and I want to keep him alive, I'm playing him because I like the flavor of him, he fits well in dragons. I have 2 options at my disposal, and I'm trying to figure out which would serve better in the long run. Lightning Greaves for haste on tokens and other dragons, or Darksteel Plate for guaranteed protection unless they have counterspell. Thoughts?
That's kind of what I was thinking. Plus, it's the same price as the Greaves, and easier to find. Thanks!

Darksteel Plate gives you advantage in combat, as you gain a solid defense from creatures without trample, but at the same time lets you vulnerable to removal cards like Tragic Slip , which are very common. Lightning Greaves on the other hand will not protect you against combat damage, but will prevent any magic to target your Dragonmaster. In this case, if you keep him away of combat, he will only die with a global removal card.
It's just a matter of deciding wich fits better in the metagame of where you play.

Maybe use one normally and keep the other sideboarded?

I would think that Darksteel Plate would be better because if you keep Dragonmaster Outcast alive long enough, you'll have enough dragon tokens to just steamroll your oppenents. Plus it'll protect it from stuff like Supreme Verdict and other board wipes.
