dragons in modern?

I know that dragons of tarkir is still being spoiled and its the big dragon set obviously but do you think a dragon deck would do very well in modern anytime soon or do you think it is still far from playable? The obvious concern is the high mana costs but id love to see a deck with the new sarkhan as a win con.

Tribal is generally very bad in competitive unless you're talking Goblins, Merfolk, Faeries, or Elves.

Yeah I'm just really tempted to make a dragon deck and with my favorite format being modern I was just hopeful that anyone had any ideas,oh well I suppose I can just make a fun casual dragon deck,should be a blast to make regardless.

New Sarkhan isn't particularly great as a win con. He's more of a utility walker which spawns dragons.

You could make a pretty solid Dragon deck in EDH. Unfortunately Modern as a format is just too fast. It has slowed down recently, but still not enough for Dragons to be competitive.

Jam him in with Doubling Season, Bogardan Hellkite, Kokusho, the Evening Star and be a slow janky Dragonstorm replacement?

Nice xcn, thinking of Doubling Season. That could be a lot of fun, going Jace, Architect of Thought into the new Sarkhan into a half dozen dragons. Maybe add in the new Kolahgahn for giggles and haste

I lost to a demon deck in a modern tournament the other day. While I can't see dragons being a tier 1 deck, I can see them being tier 3, much like the demon deck that defeated me.

I once build a dragon deck. It was way too slow. When I finally got my dragons out, they all died to removal. Even with DTK, I don't think they will be any good in Modern.

You put in a lot of effort to get them out and when you do finally the just die to removal before they do anything.

Tribals are for flavor and making a deck around the favorite card in your collection, not for taking to a pro tour. Dragons are worth money not because they get put in Tier 1 modern or legacy decks, but because they're badass, lovable, and everybody wants to play with them.
