so i am wanting to create a jund dredge deck for modern. game 1 shouldn't be a problem to win, but with all the graveyard hate available nowdays, what does one do for game 2? can you Naturalize a Tormod's Crypt in response to its sac to save your yard, or you lose it regardless? or would it be safer to play elderazi in game two and just keep recurring the yard back into library?

You loose it regardless. Pithing Needle and Krosan Grip can save you (but you have to use Krosan Grip before they use Tormod's Crypt ).

forgot about Krosan Grip . so jund dredge is competivetly viable for modern then?

It all depends on how you approach it, its so rogue to run dredge with all the graveyard hate you might be able to take the meta by storm, but I wouldn't expect to create a tier one archetype. I have a BUG dredge deck that does pretty well sometimes but then I run into Tormod's Crypt , Rest in Peace , Relic of Progenitus and the like and I'm in trouble. You have to build a reliable plan B in.

honestly i'd try transformational sideboarding game 2/3. Instead of responding to the natural graveyard hate you know is going to happen, change your main deck's win condition and exclude your dredge mechanics to just play jund aggro/midrange. It wil make all their sideboard changes virtual advantage, and you'll be able to steal a match. Most people dont expect you to change your entire decks function post sideboard. so they respond to what they lost to game one, which will be dredge. Etc.

WotC has banned all of Dredge's staples out of Modern to prevent it from being Poor Man's Legacy. A deck that's similar is Living End , where you cycle through the deck using creature cards like Street Wraith , with the occasional dredge card. Then you cast Demonic Dread , which cascades into Living Death .

While not exactly Dredge, it does have a lot of mechanical overlap and has a similar play style.

@ Weston Ayarza

That's my decks plan exactly, I transform into a more full on control deck than a dredge deck and take the opponent by surprise. It works for me

DrFunk27: Ultimate Dredgery.

khanye: The problem with that transformational sideboard is a good Dredge deck must have at least 15 pieces of dredge, right? Do you side all of them out or some of them out?
