Alright guys, so a few days back i asked between a few decks which was the best/most competitive and the answer was...none of them really. And i can deal with that, i am still trying to delve into modern and find out what works and what doesn't. I am in it for the fun and brewing of it, but that doesn't mean i don't want to win and be successful. So i came up with another deck, a great deck, basically the green merfolks. Yep, probably by the title you've guessed it elves. I don't really know a ton about modern yet (though i am trying to learn: i've been watching the recent GP and learning the decks in the format) therefore i am not too sure how well this will work. Or, for that matter, if it is an established deck. But I for one love it, it's incredibly fast and more importantly incredibly fun. Here is the list i have come up with.
When Santa Attacks Playtest
Modern
SCORE: 7 | 12 COMMENTS | 331 VIEWSI have a few things to point out, and i'd like to talk about how some of it's match ups are. Like i said, i think this is like the merfolk of green. Honestly i don't know why this isn't tier one, in testing against Merfolk basically what it came down to was who played first. And personally i love those match ups, it means you are about on the same power level. Against combo decks like Birthing Pod i have found myself able to outrace their combo. And control, well, honestly i haven't tested against it much. So, what do you guys think is this viable to be competitive. (Competitive being on an FNM level, maybe eventually a PTQ or something)
Side note, later i will be adding in a playset of Cavern of Souls . Right now i am focusing on the necessities of the deck, once i have some more money after building the deck on paper i'll try to get my hands on some. Also...sideboard help would be great, thanks :)

Elves isn't too bad for modern, especially on a budget. However, i'd like to point out a few things here:
First off, if you're running Nissa, you should probably include Nissa's Chosen , just for value. Bunches of life isn't going to do much good if you're playing against infect (Which I would expect wherever you expect to play this).
Also, Beck is a pretty big thing for Elf players. Just throw in some Breeding pools, and you're set. Likewise, I would advise putting in Arbor Elf over one of your other two mana dorks if you go this route.
Lastly, Nettle Sentinel is a great friend in this deck.
Best of luck here, friend.

ThatBlueMage I don't think i'll splash for Beck , and i'll consider the Nettle Sentinel . And i obviously considered playing Nissa's Chosen , but honestly i think there are just other cards i'd rather play. By itself it is simply an okay card, and i don't particularly want to run this just because i can fetch it into play.
Thanks for the advice and wishes of luck, i think i'll have a lot of fun with this deck.

I don't know how you can play Elves in a format that doesn't have Wirewood Symbiote, Gaia's Cradle or Natural Order lol
Even Glimpse is banned!
