So I will be taking my deck, Walking on the Esper Side (Help Wanted), to a modern tournament for this first time tomorrow.
Nothing major, just a casual tournament at a local store. I was wondering if any of you have any tips for a first timer.

Really you are taking a $1000 dollar deck to your first tournament stuffed full of stuff that could be killed by a RDW deck.

I ended up not being able to make it that day, so my tournament virginity remains unsullied for the time being.
As far as planeswalker abilities go, I think I have nailed down the compensation that works best with the deck in it's current state, now I'm just waiting for more intense playtests to prove me right or wrong. They all pull their weight, and I rarely feel that I didn't get full value out of them. The only one that I would take out at this stage is Tamiyo, the Moon Sage . She is a fantastic planeswalker, but she doesn't really fit in the deck right now.
Pyro do you have any suggestions on what I could change to handle RDW better?

Witchbane Orb Any spell that can target you as the player can have its damage redirected to a plainswalker you control, if you can't be targeted then they can't do this.

http://magiccards.info/query?q=!Witchbane+Orb would this card be something to look into or something like this card

I actually run two Witchbane Orb in the sideboard for decks like burn and mill.
I'm planning on changing them to Leyline of Sanctity once I have the cash, and I'm debating whether or not I should run 2 sideboard and 1 mainboard (for a total of 3).
The biggest problem I am having right now is balancing out my sideboard and mainboard.

yeah iv seen that card its pretty good well the more you have the better chance you get it in your first hand :P though thats not always 100% true

The way I figure it, I really want it in my opening hand, but only occasionally do I want to see more than 1 per game (if they manage to destroy my first one, for example).
I think I will run 3 Leyline of Sanctity , either all in the sideboard, or distributed across the sideboard and mainboard like I described earlier.
The other reason I prefer leyline, is that I would assume there is a lot more artifact hate than enchantment hate in modern, what with affinity/robots being an ever present threat.
And in all liklihood I will eventually be replacing Tamiyo, the Moon Sage . Either with a new planeswalker, or with a couple more support spells.

i dont know iv seen more equipment hate then artifacts.but thats just me, i think its never a bad idea to run when your playing a burn/mill deck it just wipes the board with all their cards (to some extent). what card did you have in mind to replace tamiyo?

Tamiyo would either be replaced with more countermagic (Dissipate specifically) or if a good planeswalker that fits in the esper colors comes out with Dragon's maze or M14, I'll jump on that.
What I really want is that DGM card render silent. Seems to be a very nice option for me.
