Title says it all. I cant decide if i should run Ghost Quarter of Tectonic Edge . Which do you think is better in the modern meta and why? How many would you keep in Mainboard/sideboard and why? thanks!

Generally, Tec is better. In decks like D&T or Hatebears, GQ is preferable.

The number depends on your deck. Mono color can easily run a set, but UWx with fixing for Cryptics might only get away with 1 or 2.

It depends. In my mill deck, is use GQ because they get the option to search, and if they do I can Trap them for 0.

In disruption decks, TE is better.

For most decks, I would say TE is better.

But if you're really desperate, you can GQ your own land for mana.

Depends on why you're playing it. If you're mainboarding them in order to mess with your opponent's mana, then TE is stronger (albeit slower).

If you've got them in the sideboard to remove specific lands (tron pieces), then GQ is better because it comes out faster.

In my meta, GQ is what I run main board. Most players, (minus the random hate bear pilot) run greedy manabases. After a a couple turns, not only is my opponent restricted on what they can fetch out, but also they ran out of basics pretty quickly (they run about 3 MB on average). With that said GQ becomes a Strip Mine and Path to Exile becomes REALLY cheap removal. Some players get pretty nasty about that.

Due to the meta call that I made, I quickly adapted when I built my deck to run mostly basics to mitigate Blood Moon shenanigans and opposing GQ's whenever they decide to pop up. It's a great card in the right meta. Something to think about.

The bast part is, if you get ballsy in modern, you can run a pox loam variant that lets you continuously fuck up their man abase and then grind them down hard.

I am running GQ right now, 2 mainboard, 2 sideboard, but my concern is scapeshift decks running Valakut, i would end up hurting myself once they grab their basic for GQ. I dont want to switch to TE just for scapeshift decks though, that seems unnecessary, especially since i can use GQ quicker, which is relevant most of the time

It's a rare situation where your Valakut opponent resolves a Scapeshift and doesn't immediately kill you. Almost all of the time the Valakut deck player will only cast SS when it will result in an OTK.

The correct answer is: it depends :) It depends of your deck and your meta.

For instance, I started using Tectonic Edge on my deck Rakdos Infection, but I've changed them to Ghost Quarter .

IMO, Ghost Quarter is better against Scapeshift, Tron and Manlands (good combo with Extirpate or Surgical Extraction btw). Tectonic Edge is better agains everything else.

I guess im going to just stick with ghost quarter. Im not seeing any huge reason why I should start using tectonic edge.

Personally have a soft spot for Ghost Quarter . I hate Land Destruction. Quarter gives me a comprimise that i can build around... Cosi's Trickster , Psychic Surgery and Psychogenic Probe to name a few... without leaving me feeling dirty about blowing up a land that replaces itself... I absolutely love punishing people who run greedy manabases with absolutely no basics in their deck, or people whose primary win conditions hinge on certain utility/man-lands. I'd be weary of what colours your opponent is running, you might accidentally fix their mana
