Gifts Tron?

I want to brew a budget Modern deck, and I was wondering -- could Gifts Ungiven work in a tron build? Trash for Treasure would help a ton there, and Sundering Titan has solid synergies with Trash.
For example, what if you cast Gifts Ungiven and went to grab
Or
?
You could really watch them squirm. You have options. Maybe you grab the one tron land you don't have and Scrying as well as a couple bombs. Let them decide what you get -- except Footsteps and Trash make it so that having creatures in your yard is bad for them, and of course they don't want to give you the actual creatures, and you can probably run a card or two to bring Tron Lands back from your grave.
What say you? Course, Wurmcoil Engine is the absolute best here(death trigger for Footsteps and if you want to sac it to Trash), but it's a bit pricey. So, could it work?

If you did run make a deck based off this I think you would want Crucible of Worlds in your gifts pile. (I hadn't checked truis's link).

It's not budget, but -Tron can be a Gifts Ungiven build. Not sure if it's better. Here's an example: Mono U Gifts Tron

The problem here is that Tron wants to be dropping some massive creature on T3, not gifting for lands in a desperate attempt to maybe have tron active by turn 5ish - at that point the game’s probably already over.
Tron wants its lands fast, and then large threats asap. I really don’t think Gifts works with that ideology

For tradional tron that would be very true. I think the general idea being desired here is having "tron" as a support more than assembling it right away. Kinda similar to how mono blue tron will try to win a late game with Mindslaver recursion. Just my thoughts though, and may not be the intent being sought after. Something control like instead of the combo feel of normal tron.

I was thinking a sort of Reanimator style deck. Using Tron lands as a backup to cheat our big guys into play, and Thirst for Knowledge and Shriekhorn or something to fill our yard. Then we can use Trash and Footsteps as solid 3-mana reanimation to get a lot of value.

Making tron decks plan A. vulnerable to GY hate is the last thing tron needs. Casting your threats that were supposed to be reanimated sounds appealing at first, but often those threats are worse than trons regular T3 plays and harder to set up.
I like the idea of gifts, but with the deck warping presence of Gifts you would need to choose a deck that wasn't already overfull on slots.
Reainimator tradditionally hasn't been very powerful in modern, mostly due to the lack of decent reinimation spells and the efficincy of GY hate.
Goryos vengence is unarguably the best Reainimation spell in modern, none of the others come close unless you want the reainimation for a different purpose than closing the game out quick. Gifts decks have often adopted Unburial Rites for a unconditional reainimation, but these decks have never really been in the forefront of modern or seen much success outside of other formats. I doubt adding tron lands would change much.

that seems interesting and I like the idea (huge fan of Sphinx of the Steel Wind) but eldrazi and green Tron are successful and are already ruined by Blood Moon it is hard to image a good manabase for gifts tron maybe splash and not have the gold cards

So, what I'm thinking so far:
-
First, Tron isn't Plan A. It's a B-Plan that can be used to help cheat out the bigger cards that we otherwise couldn't cast. Think of it more of tacking Tron lands to a reanimation strategy.
-
Second, I think it should be a toolbox type deck. Trying to keep it low on colors, which will restrict it a bit, but it should be able to function rather well as a toolbox control tron reanimator list, which sounds odd but I think it can be mathed out.

sounds clunky but sort of consistent and very odd me being used to regular tron

Just for thought, what about a blue/red (izzet) list that can use Emry, Lurker of the Loch to fill the yard with. It encourages the artifact base for casting emry and helps with the cost of playing Trash for Treasure. You could run Mishra's Bauble for value/deck manipulation with fetch lands and Engineered Explosives like the early urza decks for board control. Arcum's Astrolabe could help the mana run smoothly as well. Anyhow, just some thoughts on a framework for ya.

psionictemplar possibly. I will note that I think Grixis is better here, and I'd also like to run Sundering Titan for board state control.

I am not going to discount the possibility of grixis but remember that the more land types you have, the greater the possibility of Sundering Titan blowing up your own lands is. If a 3rd color is a splash, then it could be covered with the artifacts we would likely be running.

Oh, I meant that I didn't plan on running any lands with basic land types. All colored mana would come from cards like Fiery Islet or Chromatic Sphere or Prophetic Prism.

I think it works fairly well, although 5-color is mostly to be able to hardcast some of the bombs in bas situations.
Sorry, couldn't figure out how to make the decklink function quite work.
