Here.

Pretty sweet collection of decks. Two Amulet Blooms (!), two Abzan, Twin, Infect, Bogles, Affinity.

It's definitely diverse, and some people are complaining about Amulet and wanting it banned. The thing is, I think the two guys who top 8'd the GP with Amulet were the only people running Amulet in Day 2.

I still miss Treasure Cruise, but I love the diversity.

And I'm sad that bogles got knocked out. And all the people who are saying bloom should be banned are really frustrating me because it's probably some of the same people that are complaining about how if any decks wins wizards will ban it. I'll never play bloom (too complex for me) but I can at least say as a deck it's actually kind of funny to watch.

People need to fucking knock it off with the calls to ban shit. It's getting outrageous at this point abd ruining the format. Hell if anything let's unban something soon

Yeah let's let Modern calm the hell down before we power ban anything for no reason.

And why the hell would Amulet Bloom get banned out of the format? You can't get all pissed at a deck just because it does powerful stuff. That's the entire point of eternal formats.

I think the "BAN X" talk mostly has to deal with the Magic community's propensity to jump to conclusions and be heavily invested. That said, I think Amulet is fine and nothing should be banned at the moment. As far as unbanning, I don't think we need to unban anything, but Randy Beuhler made a good argument for Ancestral Vision while the other commentator (Gabe Carlton-Barnes, I've never heard of him) said we should talk about unbanning Jace, the Mind Sculptor. While I won't go THAT far, I could see Visions being unbanned to help blue decks a bit. Unless we get a good cheap blue card-draw spell that isn't inherently broken like Treasure Cruise/Dig Through Time.

We just got done with a banning, let's give this a shot. A week ago everyone was saying how we should ban more abzan pieces bc it's everywhere. People bitch about something getting banned then they demand more stuff gets banned. Just let it sort itself out. We've had 2 freaking events

I'm shocked Bogles got so far in this metagame, I ditched the deck after i had started putting it together b/c of how poorly positioned it is.

The reasoning behind banning pieces Summer Bloom combo is because it violates the supposed "turn three rule."

WotC has been pretty inconsistent with how it enforces keeping Modern a four turn format. I think people are complaining because cards like Seething Song, Dread Return, and Glimpse of Nature have sat on the ban list for a long time. Meanwhile, Infect and Amulet of Vigor have been killing people on turns two and three pretty regularly. IIRC someone died turn two on camera at a Pro Tour to Hive Mind.

My argument has been decks like Infect and Titan Bloom get blown out by Abrupt Decay and Mana Leak, so it's not like they're completely format breaking. So why can't we have other combo decks that also get disrupted just as easily in the format? Either ban Amulet of Vigor or start unbanning combo cards. Seeing as how it'd be completely dumb to ban Amulet of Vigor and Mutagenic Growth, it would seem the obvious solution would be to do the latter.

Alas, WotC wants to have this arbitrary rule in place that has limited the format's diversity. If you look at the major events leading up to Seething Song and Second Sunrise getting banned, you'll notice that most of them have six or more different archetypes in the top 8. Then, when they gutted two combo decks out of the format, we were left with Rock, Splinter Twin, Birthing Pod, and Affinity being the only decks making top 8...which went on until Treasure Cruise got printed.

I really wish Force of Will would hurry up and get reprinted in a Standard-legal set so we can have it in Modern. Half the ban list could come off. We could stop having these dumb debates over what is and isn't consistent turn two/three wins. I don't think anyone would be calling for Amulet of Vigor to be banned if we had free countermagic and/or cards like Stifle in the format.

As it stands, I seriously question the DCI's reasoning behind a lot of the decisions they've made.

I'm all for unbanning combo pieces. Give me Sword of the Meek. Please. It's all I want. And in the meantime, please do not unban Second Sunrise as eggs is the devil incarnate in deck form.

I'm pretty happy with that as a Top 8.
