Is it banned still or not? Only seeing it listed on mtg sites as, and thats it. Tempest Block Legal
Legacy Legal
Vintage Legal
Commander Legal

Grindstone was only ever printed in Tempest, which is not part of the Modern card pool. So it is not Modern legal.

Seconding and Thirding what Unforgivn_II and lemmingllama said. Plus I don't think I'd want Grindstone + Painter's Servant in Modern as another combo deck. Sure it loses pretty hard to Kolaghan's Command, but it's still an instant win combo.

Grindstone isn't legal...but Sphinx's Tutelage is. Pretty damn close.

@Scytec Sphinx's Tutelage doesn't go infinite with Painter's Servant. It's close, but not quite as potent.

Grindstone was never modern legal, as it was printed before 8th Edition
