Has Day's Undoing worked out for anyone?

Day's Undoing seems good with affinity
The problem with Day's Undoing is that it ends the turn, and in such tempo/fast deck that is affinity, giving your opponent a turn with a full hand seems bad

Dunno how successfully he is being used but his interaction with Notion Thief is pretty sweet. I wanna build some janky deck that plays Laboratory Maniac, Notion Thief and Day's Undoing and maybe even Dark Deal. It seems like it would be prertty fun self mill deck.

I did see someone play it in affinity at a modern PPTQ he didnt make top 8 and I never got to see the deck in action but really I think it could be decent. Heres the break down of it the card draws you 7 cards...thats insane and it ends the turn....that doesnt matter in affinity it almost never interacts other than just attacking. HOWEVER, it does draw your opponent more cards which could be problematic. But at the same time when you think about it lets say you play this on turn 2 or 3 and your opponent knows you affinity. This would mean he probably kept cards that could destroy you and if they dont cast them right away maybe you shuffle them in and they draw non interactive cards. Thats another thought, theres definitely enough argument on both sides but in the end just play with it yourself. Proxy it and test with it and see if you like it. I personally think thoughtcast is enough but in some match ups maybe days undoing is insane the only way to know is to try. I personally think it is worth testing but I wouldnt get the highest of hopes.

You know what? I think for Day's Undoing you should just play X. Here's why...
Day's Undoing
+
Notion Thief
(What? What? Uh, what?)
Damnation
Cryptic Command / Dissipate / Counterflux ()
Go for the Throat / Terminate () / Path to Exile (
) / Lightning Bolt
Inquisition of Kozilek / Thoughtseize
4x Snapcaster Mage or Tasigur, the Golden Fang + some Snap.
Dark Confidant (Can easily get you killed though. Would need a couple of Elixir of Immortality and that feels clunky/wasteful.)
Hate cards:
If - Shatterstorm
If - Kataki, War's Wage / Stony Silence
If - Creeping Corrosion
If - Thrun, the Last Troll
Spellskite (Hates on Boggles)
If Living End is problematic enough Leyline of the Void, otherwise Stony Silence if ?
In the right shell, that is a shell where your opponent would draw, Notion Thief becomes as powerful if not than Olivia Voldaren. This would be a deck that aims to win after neutralizing Twin, after multiple rounds of removal vs affinity, and after multiple wrath effects vs Boggle, or after stealing everything with Spellskite.

Day's Undoing works phenomenally in that deck. You basically playing with two hands, while getting rid of your opponent's hands well. On a good day, your 7 cards are on the table around turn 3 or 4, so being able to do that twice while your opponent is still on their first 7 is awesome.
It also serves a double function of shuffling away hate pieces. Usually they'll keep a hand just because it has a Stony Silence or something in it. If you shuffle that away, chances are they won't have it again.

To clarify that this works, in case some people think it doesn't...
Text of Day's Undoing: "Each player shuffles his or her hand and graveyard into his or her library, then draws seven cards. If it's your turn, end the turn. (Exile all spells and abilities on the stack, including this card. Discard down to your maximum hand size. Damage wears off, and "this turn" and "until end of turn" effects end.)"
Notice the clause "If it's your turn, end the turn" is also after a period. The drawing 7 occurs before that period. Also note that Notion Thief doesn't put ANYTHING onto the stack.
Text for Notion Thief: "If an opponent would draw a card except the first one he or she draws in each of his or her draw steps, instead that player skips that draw and you draw a card."
The reason it doesn't work for Waste Not is because that card only has multiple triggered abilities:
"Whenever an opponent discards a creature card, put a 2/2 black Zombie creature token onto the battlefield.
Whenever an opponent discards a land card, add BlackBlack to your mana pool.
Whenever an opponent discards a noncreature, nonland card, draw a card."
You can tell that Waste Not has a triggered ability because it has one of the three key words that point out a triggered ability, "when", "whenever", "at". In this case the word is "whenever".
Anywho have fun in EDH with your newfound knowledge that in a 4 player game Notion Thief will make you draw 28 cards with Day's Undoing. Your friends will probably all be miffed but it's not your fault they don't know the rules! : P

My LGS owner said he tested it in Merfolk and it worked wonders. As long as you have an AEther Vial out on two and attack before you cast it, the end the turn downside is hardly even one. The second downside of giving your opponent more cards is offset by you getting more cards. More lords for more beats.
I'm not completely sold on the idea however. If you cast one late game, it's pretty bad. If you draw into multiple copies, it becomes a dead card. Also, giving bogles, burn, or infect access to more spells is a terrible idea.

I made a goofy fun mill deck with Day's Undoing and Leyline of the Void and Erebos, God of the Dead. Whenever you get 1x Leyline or 2x with Erebos it's great. Otherwise, as you could imagine, it's pretty clunky. Occasionally they'd be below 10 cards by the end of T4. Doesn't do much if they had Twin in opening hand though.
