Would it be possible to see a mardu color heroic deck In modern?

I'm not sure how prominent heroic is in Mardu, it's more of a Jeskai thing if I remember correctly.

I'm farily certain that heroic is more of a bant centered mechanic. And in modern, there's enough kill spells being thrown around that heroic is going to have a rough time loading up dudes. Fortunately, there's the boggles deck that helps to mitigate that by using hexproof creatures instead of heroic dudes.

The standard lists are either Jeskai or Bant colors. Black doesn't give you much to work with and it makes for a huge investment only to get blown out by removal. Boggles is a better version of heroic and it's not even a major player anymore. Instead of heroic you could try Kiln Fiend combo instead. Similar pseudo combo feel but more explosive and doesn't get hosed nearly as bad.

Well, Temur Battle Rage could be a strong tool for any heroic deck. The real trick is protection. Emerge Unscathed would undoubtedly be an excellent tool.

I think, on a related note, that Stave Off is an underappreciated tool for the "Gods Willing" slot in these types of decks outside of Standard. Yeah, it can't Scry or benefit you via rebound, but you can use it to target opponents' creatures. This could be really important against Splinter Twin.

Kiln Fiend looks like a pretty solid tech choice.

Apostle's Blessing is better in that slot though. It doesn't require you to splash for another color so you can always cast it.

One of the best 'Heroic' modern cards is Nivmagus Elemental, Heroic is generally really difficult to play as a powered-down mechanic, and forces you to target your dudes more often than not. Cards that make it possible however are cheap spells that target and cantrip, so cards like Dragon Mantle are more profitable in that sense.

The main reason I believe the deck has either not taken off, or just falls flat is because decks like Affinity, Infect, and Suicide Zoo all already do what Heroic wants to do, and then better.

I would run Naya heroic, personally. Seeds of Strength is my absolute favorite Modern Heroic enabler.

Do u get three different targets with that?

June 10, 2015 5:47 p.m.

You can target three different targets, one target twice and one target once, or one target three times. You choose. It's why each target is listed separately.

Yeah, IndependentMeta. You can actually cast it on, say, their Deceiver Exarch in response to them targeting it with Splinter Twin. Use Stave Off to give it protection from red, then Splinter Twin no longer has a legal target and goes to the graveyard. You wouldn't want to wait until 'Twin attaches to their Pestermite or Exarch because they could just combo off in response to your Stave Off. Better to keep it from attaching in the first place. :)

canterlotguardianYou only get 1 heroic trigger per spell regardless of targets. The oracle text for the heroic ability reads "whenever you cast a spell that targets x" not whenever x is targeted. Attached is the oracle text. With Seeds of Strength you can trigger 3 different creatures heroic ability, but not one multiple times.

I think Boros would be the best bet for a heroic build strangely enough.
