Anyone playing Soul Sisters anymore? Never makes too 8 lists lately and I feel that it's pretty well positioned right now but looks solid, in the sense that I don't see anything that completely shuts it down so bad you may as well not play the match.

Looking for cool ways to update the list for the current meta or just discuss why it's not seen at all lately.

Thanks T/O!

You're gonna have a hard time against Jund, and sometimes Grixis Control can be an ass, but mostly, the meta is not too harsh towards you. Of course, you do have unwinnable matchups, like Tron and Amulet Bloom, which is a huge reason not to run the deck, but if you dodge them, you'll be mostly in the clear.

It hasn't been making many top 8s because a lot of people prefer not to play decks which have matchups they are unable to win. Another reason is that about 2 people have played it a competitive level, and nobody else really acknowledges the deck.

It's not terribly positioned at the moment, and you basically just need to run value spells. Spectral Procession, Secure the Wastes, and Ranger of Eos are all amazing cards at the moment, however, never run Squadron Hawk; it sucks. Often you need to fight for your wins, and only really against Twin and Grixis Delver do you have incredibly easy games.

JexInfinite Shouldn't Soul Sister do just fine against Tron if you sideboard something like Stony Silence?

Currently building a budget version, since I can't put out that much money atm, but Soul Sister doesn't seem all that bad. There's a lot of good cards you can sideboard to help out against some of the meta decks.

What would Stony Silence do against Tron?

No Expedition Map and eggs shoots down the deck's speed by a lot.

Soul Sisters is not really in the meta right now, but it very occasionally shows up to win games. For a while the thing to do was Martyr Proc (example).

Just this week there was a good show from a Soul Sisters deck: http://magic.tcgplayer.com/db/deck.asp?deck_id=1250102. Personally I don't like Archangel of Thune because the 5 mana is sometimes more than you want to spend, It does have a lot of synergy though.

Soul Sisters is one of the cheaper Modern decks. If you're on a budget Path to Exile and Serra Ascendant are the only big investments you need to make. Maybe Ranger of Eos. But if you run a mono-white version of Sisters, every other card you need is maybe $1-2 at most (aside from sideboard cards like Stony Silence).

Damn sorry, brainfart on my part on the Stony Silence. I guess lands like Tectonic Edge and Ghost Quarter can at least slow down the Tron deck a little.

I was planning to run Martyr of Sands with Serra Ascendant as I feel the deck is faster in the early game, but I guess I might be lacking in power mid to lategame. Is Archangel of Thune just a better choice?

Tron is unwinnable unless you get an early 6/6 Ascendant, except for extreme circumstances.
