How Charming

So I wanted to ask out of the RTR and Khans Charms which ones are actually really playable in modern? I know Izzet Charm, Golgari Charm, and Rakdos Charm are played. I have not yet see any Khan clan charms used often yet.

The clan charms are pretty poor, just because their effects aren't relevant enough to be played. Sultai Charm comes the closest, but still is outclassed by other removal spells.

From Return to Ravnica, Boros Charm is played in burn, Izzet Charm is played in many different decks, Golgari Charm sees sideboard play in BGx midrange decks, and Rakdos Charm is played in lots of decks that can cast it in order to beat Affinity and Twin.

Dimir Charm sees a bit of legacy sideboard play

Azorius Charm is occasionally played as a 1-of in UW control in modern. (But not if they're playing any other colors) Pretty much all the RTR charms are powerful, though not always good enough for eternal formats. All of them made it into standard, though.

This might be extremely difficult, or as simple as searching "Charm" in the Gatherer, but can anyone give me a full list of Modern-legal charms? I didn't know of things like Piracy Charm or Funeral Charm until a little while ago, and now I realize there may be more that I don't know of. And what about charms like Darigaaz's Charm?

I am quite shocked that Jeskai Charm is not the shiznit in modern. For someone that enjoys tempo it seems to be a wet dream

Boros Charm is great in burn, Rakdos Charm destroys infinite creature combos, Golgari Charm seems pretty strong as a sideboard card, and Izzet Charm can offer tempo.

Those are the only ones worth caring about. The rest are kind of bad.

Orzhov Charm is fun in either B/W Turbo Fog Rebels or Dark Soul Sisters

I've seen Jund Charm played a bit. It's not bad. I'd rather play it over Anger of the Gods.

kungfuturtle - because 3 mana in modern is HUGE. Like that's reserved for really, really important cards that are close to game winning. See Liliana of the Veil and Birthing Pod (which is 3 mana to cast, essentially).

Fulcrum - Anger is super important because it exiles. This basically stops Kitchen Finks dead in its tracks. It's also fairly handy against delver to some extent. The extra one damage is also super relevant against things like goyf, scooze, merfolk creatures that buff each other, zoo creatures that are buffed by lands, Blade Splicer, and perhaps the odd Arcbound Ravager will fall to it too. 3 damage compared to 2 is a big step up.

@ChiefBell: Completely forgot about the exiling part, that changes things a bit. Though I think both are SB tech. I don't see Anger MB often.

I like Jund Charm as a singleton in Living End decks, just as a way to survive, or screw over an enemies graveyard before the cascade.

Anger of the Gods is better, though, because it hits a lot of creatures, and it's pretty easy to cast. is way easier to cast than , and can be played in control decks. (I LOVE it in control. Comes down the turn before they're prepared.)
