How does Storm do in Modern?
Modern forum

I have been wanting to make a storm deck for a while.
I am just wondering how well it would do? would it still be decent without fetchlands? What turn do they usually win on? What colors would be best? What are cantrips?
So what format is it best in? Legacy? How expensive would it be to build one without fetch lands?

What you could do if you want to go Modern is build a Pyromancer's Ascension deck. It's a variant on storm that has had some success. It's not super expensive and it's R/U manabase means that you can easily play it without fetches but you have Scalding Tarn as an option to add. It's pretty cheap depending on how you build it.
Legacy storm you'll be going monoblack Tendrils of Agony . It's a more solid deck all around but from what I understand doesn't do amazing in the format. I really don't know a lot about it so I won't pretend to be an expert.

EvenDryke is correct. Look up 'Jon Finkel Storm' and you'll get a copy of the Pyromancer's Ascension deck list and video from GP Portland of him playing the deck.

Oh my, that looks like a lot of math! Looks fun though. Thanks to both of you for getting some wheels turning.

Legacy storm isn't monoblack, it's pretty heavy into blue for Brainstorm, Ponder, and Preordain (a playset of each). Often it also has a slight red splash just for 1x Past in Flames . But don't bother researching Legacy storm unless you have a ridiculous amount of cash to drop on 4 Lion's Eye Diamond s and some of the most expensive lands ever =P.

EvenDryke actually Ad Nauseam
Tendrils (or ANT for short) does fairly well in tournaments, despite lots of sideboard hate cards like Trinisphere
and Chalice of the Void
In modern, there are still some storm decks that rely on Goblin Electromancer
and Pyromancer Ascension
. They aren't tier 1, but I would consider it tier 2.

There has also been a "token storm" deck floating around lately. I have it built but I have never taken it to an event. Young Stormrage
Blistercoil Weird storm is an interesting beast. Dies to removal hard but it's funny as hell to play. I Wash My Hands Of This Weirdness

This a pretty stock list for legacy storm to give you an idea of the cost, It has a target win of Turn 1 thru 4 depending on the draw, it is adam prosak's classic list he always played

Ohthenoises I have been eyeing both of those lately actually. I think you for inspiring some thoughts.

I think pyromancers accession is the way I may go. without fetch lands it should be cheaper.

just finished watching that match it was decent. Probably the one and only time I was not rooting for a white deck.

You could also go the Goblin Charbelcher route which will win with Empty the Warrens a lot of the time.

Okay I have the initial built done. Now I am gonna make a deck help form for it since i'm not supposed to advertise here. Thank you for the ideas.

Short answer: It doesn't.
Long answer: Storm has had so many key cards banned in Modern that honestly it's probably not worth playing anymore. Seething Song and Rite of Flame as well as the better filtering in the format being gone really makes the deck tough to play. It also relies heavily on the graveyard, and despite Deathrite Shaman being gone there is still a lot of good GY hate in the format that totally hoses the deck.
