How to beat burn?
Modern forum

Firstly I am sorry if this is in the wrong forum.
What are some good ways to deal with burn in Grixis colors in modern for sideboard use. I am open to any suggestions at all, as long as they are not too expensive. Thanks!

I'm already running Batterskull so that's a start. I might try to get some Spellskites though, thanks!

Dragon's Claw. witchbain orb is not an auto lose for burn. any half way decent burn player will side in revelry/smash against grixis colors because they'll asume your playing delver and delver sides dragon's claw.

Grixis has counters and discard. It doesn't have good sideboard cards, but hopefully you live until Batterskull hits down. Green and white have the best burn hate, with card like Scavenging Ooze Leyline of Sanctity Timely Reinforcements Kitchen Finks Pulse of the Fields Feed the Clan... Anyway so grixis is not the best vs burn.

Something that I like in Grixis Control is Death's Shadow. Drop it t3-ish when they've already been burning you down, and they have to think about if they want to deal with a 5/5 that'll get bigger the more they attack. You can actually pull games through with it, using it to take down the burn player.

Inquisition of KozilekThoughtseize Liliana of the Veil & Damnation are good vs burn. Some the other answers others have listed like Chalice of the Void & Spellskite.
Smallpox can be good.

Yeah thoughtseize is a terrible card vs burn. And I don't understand why you think Liliana does anything either. Or Damnation... you know that Burn will continue to plow through you if you play any of those cards, right?

Dragons Claw is the Grixis Delver card of choice. Duress is also excellent.

Leyline of Sanctity is great against any burn deck. Also, for g/w decks, Unflinching Courage can gain back lots of life.

If you are playing Grixis control, you can probably get away with using Suffer the Past for life gain. It would be a terrible choice in something like Grixis delver as you'll never get enough mana to make it useful. I like it in Grixis Twin though as it's easy to get to turn 6 against burn using counter magic. At that point their graveyard is packed and you can swing life totals by a total of 10 points at instant speed while shutting off their Grim Lavamancer.

vishnarg 2 life is better than 3 (or 3 and a land), Damnation kills Eidolon of the Great Revel at no life loss to you & Liliana of the Veil puts them into top deck mode as well as potentially being able to answer any creature threats.

Don't actually board in Damnation though.
Liliana is actually fine if you can stick her while at a reasonable life total. They are a combo deck.", and Liliana stops them from reaching critical mass, or at least slows them down from doing so.

Spellskite, Chalice of the Void, Batterskull
Grixis doesn't have lifegain, or any real anti-burn measures. Well, it's gotta be weak to something.
